Revell The State Coach of England With 8 Horses And 6 Figures - Circa 1760 - ex Adams / Revell Miniature Masterpieces, 1/48, H506-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare 1954 issue that is very well detailed and molded in the correct red (wagon) and white (horses and figures) plastic. The kit has never been started and is still sealed in the original factory clear bags. The instructions are in 'mint' condition. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glaser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although the molds were made at Adams and it had the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. Originally there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit - without figures and horses, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also. At the time of the 'takeover', Revell cut the horses and figures for this kit and it was the first 'Revell' release. 1954 advertisements from Revell list the complete line as the H506 State Coach of England, H510 Ranch Wagon, H503 Covered Wagon, H502 Marquis de Lafayette Carriage, H504 Roman Racing Chariot, H501 Wells Fargo Stage Coach, H509 Western Figures and H507 Chuck Wagon.

Revell 1907 Renault Limousine Highway Pioneers - Series Four, 1/32, H53-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+++

Sold

1953 early issue molded in gloss dark brown plastic. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo on the side. The model has not been started. The parts are still sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag and the kit is complete with instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Planet Models Focke-Wulf FW-191, 1/48, 038

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

This is the only model ever made of this subject; it is a well detailed kit from high definition resin that features fine recessed panel lines, complete cockpit, detailed dual-row radial engines, clear vacuform canopies in 'mint' condition with no yellowing and much more. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Focke-Wulf Fw-191 was a prototype German bomber from World War II. Two versions were intended to be produced, a twin-engine version using the Junkers Jumo 222 engine and a four-engine variant which utilized the smaller Daimler-Benz DB 605. The idea from the Fw-191 was born in July 1939, when the RLM issued a specification for a high-performance medium bomber, known as the “Bomber B” program. It was to have a maximum speed of 600 km/h (370 mph) and be able to carry a bomb load of 4,000 kg (8,820 lb) to any part of Britain from bases in France or Norway. Furthermore, the new bomber was to have a pressurized crew compartment, remotely-controlled armament and was to utilize two of the new 2,500 hp class of engines then being developed, known as the Jumo 222 or Daimler Benz DB 604. Arado, Dornier, Focke-Wulf and Junkers participated in Bomber B competition. The Arado Ar E340 was quickly eliminated and the Dornier Do 317 was put on a low-priority development contract. The Junkers Ju 288 and Focke Wulf Fw-191 were chosen for full development. Dipl. Ing E. Kösel, who also worked on the Fw-189 reconnaissance plane, is thought to have led the design team for the Focke-Wulf. Overall, the Fw 191 was a clean, all-metal aircraft that featured a shoulder-mounted wing. Two 24-cylinder Jumo 222 engines (which showed more promise on paper than the DB 604 engines) were mounted in nacelles on the wings. An interesting feature was the inclusion of the Multhopp-Klappe, an ingenious form of combined landing flap and dive brake, which was developed by Hans Multhopp. The aircrafts entire fuel supply was carried in five tanks located above the internal bomb bay and in two tanks in the wing between the engine nacelles and fuselage. The tail section was of twin fins and rudders design, with the tailplane having a small amount of dihedral. The tailwheel retracted forward into the fuselage and the main landing gear legs retracted to the rear and rotated 90° to lie flat in each engine nacelle, much like the main gear on the production versions of the Ju-88. A crew of four sat in the pressurized cockpit and a large Plexiglas dome was provided for the navigator; the radio operator could also use this dome to aim the remotely-controlled rear guns. The prototype aircraft flew and was well behaved, but unexpected problems with the engines immediately made the aircraft underpowered. Many work-arounds were tried, but this engine was the heart of the Bomber B specification. The project was eventually abandoned due to the technical difficulties with the engines, which never got near developing the required power.

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Still factory sealed and very rare. The H9A was a twin-engined, parasol-wing flying boat, designated by Aichi as design AM-21. It was designed in response to an IJN requirement for an advanced seaplane trainer for future crews of the Kawanishi H8K "Emily" flying boat. Design work started in January 1940 and the first of three prototypes was flown in September 1940. The aircraft had a normal crew of five (pilot, co-pilot, observer, flight engineer and a radio-operator) but seating was provided for an additional trainees. 28 total aircraft were assembled. Although a trainer, it was pressed into service in home duties starting in May 1942. The H9A1 was used for anti-submarine patrols in home waters, transport duties, paratroop training and general liaison. It was not known to the Allies until spring 1945, and subsequently never assigned an reporting code name.
