Pyro Ford 1936 Roadster, 1/32, C288-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Late 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. This model is nicely detailed and the box states that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car. Features detailed molded chassis underside with separately molded front and rear suspension, complete interior, top boot or top in the 'up' position and rear trunk mounted spare tire. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Airmodel Curtiss XF15C-1 (XF-15C-1) - Bagged, 1/72, 174

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed

Sold

Still factory bag sealed. Nicely molded with recessed panel lines. Typical basic vac kit. Scratchbuilding some details will be necessary. In the early 1940s turbojets had little thrust advantage over piston engine aircraft and a shorter range. It was no surprise that there were several mixed engine (piston and jet) designed tested and some reached operational status. The Curtiss XF15C-1 was to be a long ranged composite powered fighter. The Pratt and Whitney R-2800-34W drove a four bladed prop and the jet was a Allison Chalmers built version of the DeHavilland/Halford H-1 turbojet. Three prototypes were built and tested. The craft had a speed of 450 mph and a range of 1,250 miles. However, the rapid progress of turbojets made the concept obsolete. Trials continued but the aircraft were eventually scrapped.

Pyro Chevrolet 1957 Bel-Air Two Door Hardtop, 1/32, C294-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Late 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. In the late 1960s the '57 Chevy had passed it's popularity. But Pyro designers in the late 1960s had the forethought to recognize the '57 Chevy for the classic that it was. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Molded in bright gloss red and clear, with detailed molded chassis with separate front and rear suspension parts, complete interior and more. This model is nicely detailed and the box states that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Hudson Miniatures 1910 Ford Model T Torpedo Convertible, 1/16

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Early multi-media kit of wood, metal and plastic dated 1949 on the box. Large 1/16 scale kit measures 8 inches long when built. Very nicely detailed with all the complicated parts cast in yellow, light tan or ivory injection molded plastic. Includes full size plans and instructions. This kit has never been started. The small parts are still factory bag sealed, and all other have been inventoried 100% complete with full-size plans and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very successful and popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well until the appearance of the much smaller and less scale Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved that they were not a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own small scale competition for them called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits'. The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Sales of wooden kits faltered in the next few years with the introduction of all-plastic injection molded cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue both lines. Today, these excellent kits are often the only large-scale models available of these early automobiles.
