Gowland & Gowland US Revenue Cutter - Shipyard Ships in Miniature

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare, early, small scale ship kit from 1952. Very nicely detailed and molded, especially for that era. Includes sails, molded sea display base and clear sheet plastic with the delicately printed ratlines. The scale is not given, but the sea base measures 6.5"x2" and the ship is approximately 5 inches long. Includes beautiful color instructions with the ship history, illustrations of assembly, how to set the sails and photos for rigging. This kit has never been started and is still in the original 'krinkle' bag. The bag has typical splitting, so it has been placed inside a zip-lock bag so that no parts will be lost. Includes instructions. The box sides illustrates and names the 10 kits of this line. All were available in regular (such as this kit) or 'Ship In A Bottle' versions. the 'Bottle' was also available separately. The entire set consists of the Santa Maria 1492, Golden Hind 1588, Mayflower 1620, Bon Homme Richard 1779, SS Savannah 1819, The Flying Cloud 1849, Charles W. Morgan 1850, Gertrude L. Thebaud 1929, Frigate Constitution 1797 and US Revenue cutter 1849. It appears that Gowland & Gowland has not received the credit that it deserves in the plastic kit revolution that took America by storm in the early 1950s. Gowland developed the first all plastic car made in the USA in 1950, the 1911 Maxwell. Even more interesting is that Kevin and Jack Gowland developed the 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951 which heralded the future for the American Hobby Industry. The reason that Gowland's name is not in the fore-front of model history is that Precision Specialties (later Revell) did the distribution for Gowland.

I Railraod. Features very well drawn full size plans. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Life-Like HMS Bounty Famous Mutiny Ship, B250-125

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

The famous mutiny ship of Captain Bligh and Fletcher Christian fame. About 8" inches long when assembled. Very nicely detailed medium-size kit from Pyro's line of sailing ships. The medium models were originally called the '$1.00' ship line, which were a significant step up in size and detail from the '50 cent' series. Very nicely molded with wood planking and grain detail, full deck with many separately molded fittings and cannon, one piece masts, separately molded ratlines and billowing sails as well as a display stand. NOTE: kit has minor assembly. Hull halves have been assembled; quality is professional; no gaps and no visible glue. There is no other assembly. 5mm of the port half of the figurehead is broke off the hull and missing; the starboard side is intact, so it is difficult to see this defect. The deck and sails have been neatly painted. You can use them as-is or paint directly over them. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.

Miniature Aircraft Lockheed P-23 Army Pursuit Aircraft - Floats or Wheels - 32 inch Wingspan Balsa Wood Aircraft Kit, 1/16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Sold

Very rare. True 1/16 scale flying model kit from the 1930s or very early 1940. Miniature Aircraft was well known for turning out some of the most detailed and best scale models during this time - as their catalog says, 'The Worlds Finest Model Aircraft.' The kit cost $3.75 when it was new, so it was very expensive. The limited production and sales have made all Miniature Aircraft kits rare and valuable today. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. The model has not been started. Includes all seven printed balsa sheets in excellent condition with optional parts for land or twin float variants, stock sheet wood, stock strip wood and larger strips for main spars, leading and trailing edges and more, balloon celluloid main wheels, turned tail wheel, stock wire, colored vertical fin flash, fuselage and wing insignia printed on the plans (black and white), semi-scale fibre propeller, clear celluloid for windshields (brittle and cracking), turned wood thrust bearing, turned balsa front cowl, shaped wire rubber band/prop shaft, card stock, tissue and excellent, large 33" x 44" full size scale plans. Only the rubber band is missing - it had disintegrated into hundreds of parts. The plans are 'very good' with typical yellowing and a few small tears but nothing major. The box is present but tattered as shown and it has neatly done internal repairs to side and corner splits.
