Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts and plans. Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier hardwood preshaped model manufacturer. In the 1940s and 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. All wooden parts are hardwood and are precarved to shape - you only had to glue, sand and paint to finish them.

Very rare and most likely from the late 1930s. StromBecker was famous for their line of precarved hardwood kits and they are considered the finest ever made. The carving is done to the final shape which makes them remarkably pre-fabricated. This model features a completely carved to shape fuselage, wings and horizontal & vertical stabilizers & more, hardwood wing strut material, an envelope of powdered CASCO wood glue, sanding stick and two grits of sandpaper. When built it makes an impressive desk top display. NOTE: Builder kit only, please read carefully for the condition. NOTE: this kit has minor and 'excellent' quality sub-assembly as follows: rudder to fuselage; pylon to wing bottom. There is no other assembly. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one engine nacelle (the other is present and an ideal pattern since they are identical). Missing (1) of (2) float blocks, both propellers and two brads (very small nails). Otherwise includes all other parts and detailed instructions. The main center of the box in intact but heavily worn; the two large end flaps are 70% present but all four small side box flaps are missing. There is tape, etc on the box, hence the 'poor+' rating.

StromBecker was famous for this line of precarved hardwood kits and they are considered the finest ever made. The carving is done to the final shape which makes them remarkably pre-fabricated. Most included plastic detail parts (colored or clear), decals and sometimes even glue and wood filler (if applicable). When built it makes an impressive desk top display. This F-84 has a 5 3/4 inch wingspan. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE: the box displays better than the 'good-' grade but is ranked as such due to split corners and clear tape on the corners.

Very Rare. Date unknown but is likely from the late 1930s or early 1940s. This excellent pre-fabricated hardwood kit is large and very highly detailed for that time and features pre-cut and shaped hardwood parts, completely finished and machined wheels, beautifully turned gun barrel that is one foot long, sandpaper, CASCO glue, small parts envelope and two pages (front and back of one) of text and highly illustrated instructions. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts.

Strombecker was very well known for producing the finest pre-carved hardwood aircraft and missile kits, but they had a very short journey into the plastic model field. They made a total of 5 molds for plastic injected aircraft kits, the 1956 Sea Dart being the first. All were discontinued in the mid 1960s. One kit is this excellent X-1B. It is the rarer of the two releases as it contains the pilots bust molded into the fuselage (the other one does not). Includes full instructions with three photos of the real aircraft, full color decals, Strombecker kit catalog and an application for the Strombecker Model-Makers Club. Kit features full landing gear, clear canopy and display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Very are kit from the late 1950s and in great condition inside and out. The artwork is by Cal Smith and entitled 'Tender Flight Arriving.' The model is based on Krafft Ehricke design of Convair's Astronautics Division as a 200 foot long, 600 mile-high orbiting laboratory for 4 men. The model is molded in very light blue plastic is 24 inches long when assembled. Includes a black display stand and large stand decal. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The decals are flat and in amazing 'excellent++' condition. The instructions are 'near mint+' with very light yellowing as the only significant flaw.
