Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier manufacture of very highly prefabricated hardwood models. All through the 1930s to the 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. This P-61 is one of their higher cost line and when assembled it makes an impressive desk top display model with an 11 inch wingspan. All wooden hardwood parts are completely precarved; usually only a quick sanding would finish them. The P-61 is one of the rarest of the WWII Strombeckers and features fuselage, wings, booms and tail feathers completely carved to the final shape, plastic propellers & detail parts, fully formed wire landing gear, nose weight, extensive color decals in amazing 'Excellent++' condition, glue and wood filler in the original sealed envelopes and sandpaper. Includes excellent large-format step-by-step instructions and numerous illustrations. Never started and complete. Even includes the mail order form for the official Strombecker badge.

Very rare 1955 issue of this superb and highly prefabricated model. From the 1930s to the 1950s Strombecker was the undisputed leader in high quality hardwood models and they pulled out all of the stops for this China Clipper. Features factory carved and finished hardwood fuselage (accurate to the correct 'corrugated' surfaces), factory carved one piece wing with airfoil, dihedral and cutout for the engine nacelles, four perfectly finished engine nacelles, finished sponsons with correct airfoil, factory cut horizontal and vertical stabilizers, finished propellers (ready to install), propeller hubs, strut stock and more. Also includes a hardwood sanding stick, sandpaper, original small parts envelope, original envelope of powdered Casein Glue, a very large and colorful decal sheet in amazing 'near mint' condition and excellent instructions. These are large-format and double-side with detailed text and illustrated construction steps, parts diagram, photos of the actual aircraft, three view full-size drawings, exploded assembly view, aircraft history and more. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Strombecker even went all out on the box artwork, which was most unusual if not unheard of for solid wooden kits.

This model is from about 1955/56 and is part of Strombecker's incredibly famous science fiction series released with Disney's landmark 'Man in Space' movie series. This kit is a completely transparent model of the three stage rocket and satellite. Has colorful paper inserts that go on the inside of the parts to show the interior of the missile such as liquid and solid fuel tanks, fuel system, launcher details, etc. Features launch base, three separating stages and metal 'satellite'. The paper sheet is in excellent condition. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, color paper interior parts and instructions present.

Very rare 1950s kit. Strombecker issued a series of exotic space craft from Convair designer Krafft Ehricke and the Disney 'Man in Space' series between 1954 and 1956. This is the one that has not been reissued, making it hard to find. Large and interesting model makes an idea display alone or with the other spacecraft in this series. The spaceship has never been started but NOTE: the two stand arm halves are assembled. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Decals are in 'very good' condition and the instructions are in amazing 'near mint' condition. Please note that the box displays much better than the 'very good+' grade but is rated as such because there is clear tape on the four sides where someone 'resealed' it in the past. This kit must be shipped insured.

Rare kit from the late 1950s. The artwork is by Cal Smith and entitled 'Tender Flight Arriving.' The model is based on Krafft Ehricke design of Convair's Astronautics Division as a 200 foot long, 600 mile-high orbiting laboratory for 4 men. The model is molded in very light blue plastic is 24 inches long when assembled. Includes a black display stand and large stand decal. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The decals are flat and in amazing 'excellent++' condition. The instructions are 'near mint' with typical yellowing as the only significant flaw.

Includes precut and shaped fuselage, wings, elevators, rudder and nacelles, a bag of sealed detail parts including propellers, wheels, etc, envelopes of wood filler and glue, sandpaper, detailed instructions and drawings with aircraft history and a large, colorful American Airlines decal sheet. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed envelope; the parts that were never sealed are inventoried complete an it includes all paperwork. NOTE: the box is only fair. The ends are heavily taped and the tape extends onto the box top and bottom. It is graded 'fair', not collectible but an ideal builder as the parts and paperwork are all in very good condition.
