SALE! This box includes two 1/48 scale Sopwith Camel kits. The first one is the Aurora issue; the second one is the greatly improved Monogram reissue of the Aurora kit. Both are never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The Aurora version naturally includes the 'chock' ground base, pilot and mechanic figure. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business and sold the molds to Monogram. Monogram only reissued the best Aurora kits; the Sopwith Camel met that criteria after some mold improvements were made.

SALE!! First issue dated 1958 with Jo Kotula box art, 69 cent price extension, 'Famous Fighters' sunburst oval and Parents' Magazine Seal. This model was reviewed highly when released in magazines and features 'good' cockpit and engine detail, wing mounted bombs, clear windscreen, pilot figure, 'ground base' with chocks, mechanic figure and more. The decals are for the colorful box art aircraft. Molded in the correct gloss olive and clear plastic with the rectangle-based clear Aurora stand. Early 1960s release with classic box art by Bill Campbell. If you look closely, Bill painted one of Hawk's founders, Richard (Dick) Mates in the cockpit of the nearest fighter. This is a very nicely molded model with excellent fit and all recessed panel lines. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Thanks to Jean-Claude who told me that the boxart shows a standard F-84F but in reality the model inside is of prototype YF-96A, (aka YF-84F), s/n 49-2430. this aircraft was later modified to become the YRF-84F parasite fighter in combination with GRB-36F.It is on display at the USAF Museum, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Rare. Late 1950s hardbox Picture Gallery Issue. The hard-to-find 'Picture Gallery' series was Hawk's first move away from the thin one piece boxes and to full color artwork. The artist doing this early work fell sick and Hawk needed the artwork immediately, hence the short run. Bill Campbell was immediately contacted and did all of the box art for Hawk until Tom Morgan entered the picture. Molded in silver and clear plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Dated 1967 with John Andrews artwork. Very nicely detailed and features over 60 pieces, very good cockpit and rear crew station, pilot and observer figures opening canopy, detailed engine and optional bomb load. There is no assembly but NOTE: the interior of one fuselage half is painted the cockpit color. There is no other painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: the right fuselage is another color of plastic; it is from an earlier issue of this same kit. The windshield has clear tape on it in preparation for masking it off. The ideal cleaner to remove tape residue from plastic model parts is Novus Plastic Polish, which is available on line.
