Type four logo box, likely from the 1980s and an excellent kit for that time. Has decals for both aircraft. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing #37 clear astrodome. Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: the decal backing paper looks 'dirty' (stains) but the actual transfers are clean. In the 1930s Pan Am was a household word in the USA for their romantic foreign routes and the glamorous 'China Clippers' that crossed the Pacific Ocean, stopping at such ports as Wake Island. Pan Am's attention soon turned to the Atlantic. Since non-stop service would be needed, a new aircraft was designed. The Boeing 314 was chosen. This huge flying boat started flying the Atlantic mail in 1939 with a trip over 26 hours long. Before the war, the 314 fleet flew the Pacific, Atlantic and other routes. The airliner was a palace compared to the cramped jets and limited service of today. The flight deck compared to the bridge of a ship and housed 6 crew. It was connected to the passenger cabin by a spiral staircase. The luxurious cabins were divided into 5 standard compartments, each seating 10 passengers, a dining salon for 14, a special compartment for four and a deluxe bridal suite. 74 could be carried on day trips and 40 when sleeping quarters for all passengers was required. Chefs prepared gourmet meals while passengers lounged in deeply cushioned wicker chairs and enjoyed a grand view of the scenery from about 5,000 feet. The age of the Clippers ended shortly after WWII when land planes could operate at much higher speeds than the flying boats.

Nicely detailed full hull kit. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Mauretania and her sister Lusitania were considered the finest and most beautiful ships of the day, both inside and out. Launched in 1907, she quickly won the Blue Riband from the 'Kaiser Wilhelm II' for the fastest Atlantic crossing. For more than 22 years she was the Queen of the Atlantic liners. She saw extensive service in WWI as an armed cruiser, transport and hospital ship. In 1922 she was converted from coal to oil and set another record in 1931 when she crossed the Atlantic 4 times in one month. Sadly, she was scrapped in 1935 as the Queen Mary neared completion.

Excellent kit with a very high degree of prefabrication. Features all hard-wood parts completely carved to shape and displayed on a interior card. The full-hull kit measures 11 inches long and 9 inches high when assembled. It is worth noting that this clipper carries 6 cannon. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neat assembly. The stem, keel and rudder have been glued to the hull. The display stand is assembled. There is no other assembly. Quality of assembly is professional with perfect allignment and no gaps. The kit has been inventoried complete with all small parts still factory sealed and tied to the display card. All other parts are tied to the card as well. With instructions.

From the 1950s. Beautiful kit in exceptional condition. All metal parts are absolutely flat and have little to no flash. Often the metal warps, but not in this example. Features factory painted and letter car sides in mint condition (still in the original envelope), factory sealed metal sprung trucks, a fittings pack which is still factory sealed and HO Auto Couplers and Draft Gears with are also still factory sealed. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions. NOTE: this box design is correct, but the part number and name on the box short side is incorrect for this kit.

Very high quality wood and metal kit from the Golden Age of HO Craftsman kits. Builds a very accurate and highly detailed prototype. Of the early metal box car kits, these are my favorites. Their popularity is witnessed by the various reissues through the years. Almost all the parts that are metal on the actual box car are metal on the model. This and the factory paint, lettering and decoration makes these kits difficult to beat for scale appearance. Features stamped steel body that is factory painted, decorated and lettered, steel car ends, doors and roof, steel ladders, door guides and brake platform, cast metal roof walk, bolsters, coupler pockets and three piece brake detail, stamped metal undercarriage beam with fine cross bearers, corner steps, grab irons and more. Includes real sprung trucks. The factory paint is 'excellent' with only light storage wear and I have packed them in the original factory wax paper sleeve and put them inside the instructions so it will not be damaged in shipment. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in factory sealed envelopes and all other parts have been inventoried complete including instructions.
