Quality Craft Models Two Union Pacific 'Cushioned Load' Bulkhead Flat Cars - HO Craftsman Kit, 1/87, 361

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Includes two full kits. From 1980. Excellent kit that builds a detailed duplicate of the prototype. Features hardwood parts that are completely cut and milled to shape, numerous cast metal accessories, detailed instructions and plans and very complete decals. The kit has never been started. The small fittings are still in the factory sealed bag. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Long after manufacturers turned to plastic ready-to-run rolling stock, Quality Craft continued to produce high quality models you could build. Headquartered in Northumberland, PA, they gave the craftsman an opportunity to build a state-of-art kit and show their skill.

Sterling Messerschmitt Bf-109G Drops Bomb In Flight - 17 inch Wingspan Free Flight / Control Line, A18-149

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

17 inch wingspan kit for rubber free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for dropping a bomb in flight. Stick and tissue model featuring quality die-cut balsa parts, stripwood and spars, other wood stock as required, clear vacuform canopy (still in mint condition and not even yellowed), vac plastic details including radiator intake, spinner, pilot bust, side air scoop, exhaust ports, bomb and more, finished wire landing gear struts, finished main and tail wheels, rubber motor, plastic prop, covering tissue and a full color decal sheet. Includes excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started and inventoried complete. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling's offering to be 'deluxe' compared to other manufacturers.

Revell Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress Memphis Belle, 1/72, H201-200

This is an all-time classic Revell kit with many operating features including movable gun turrets, movable control surfaces, opening bomb bay, rotating props and wheels and retracting landing gear. Air Lines Martin Marauder II (B-26C) RAF - (Frog), 1/72, 12902

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Purchased new in 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio. Quality Frog kit - no rivets, just fine panel lines for a realistic model. Features separately molded rudder, elevator and ailerons, pilot and gunner figure and detailed engines with rotating propellers. Inventoried with all parts, decals and instructions. Please NOTE that one prop blade is broken at the hub base but is present. This box has some of my favorite Jo Kotula boxart. Kotula originally did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.

The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Scale flying wooden rubber powered model from the early 1950s. Before there were plastic models, there were wooden aircraft kits. These usually came in two types - solid and stick and tissue. The solid models were static and usually contained a few blocks of balsa, maybe a detail part or two and simple plans. These "Make Wood Look Like Plane" models required a very high level of skill in carving and finishing. The stick and tissue variety were slightly easier to build and provided the ultimate thrill - they could fly when complete with rubber power (and later with free-flight gas and eventually RC). They still required a great deal of skill, so manufacturers sought ways to make model building more accessible to everyone. One idea was pre-carving and/or prefabrication. This raised prices, naturally. Many manufacturers launched lines of 'easy' to build flying models but only Monogram succeeded in making an entire line at an affordable price that would actual fly. The original 'Speedee-Bilt' kits were in one-piece two-color boxes. In the early 1950s, shortly before plastic kits were available, Monogram changed to the 'hardbox' with a lithographic slick glued to the top as this kit. Speedee-Bilt kits contained die cut and pre painted wooden parts, completely formed airfoil wings, carved wheels and numerous plastic details like cowlings, pilot, missiles, prop and more (depending on the actual kit). Assembly was by detailed full size plans.

Revell Cutty Sark Clipper Ship - 3 Feet Long, 1/96, H364-995

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

Rare first issue of this kit dated 1960. Large and highly detailed, measuring 36 inches long when built. This is the finest example of this kit, inside or out, that I have seen. The box is not perfect but is the best I have ever seen. It has like-new color and gloss, four solid corners with no repairs and zero price tags, fading or stains. There are marks from the factory tape (but no tears) and light edge wear and very light general wear. Although older, this kit is often still the 'standard' that other large-scale plastic sailing ships models are measured by. Since this is the first issue, the model has the factory painted copper hull below the waterline. The factory paint is in amazing 'near mint' condition. Since this is a first edition it also contains the booklet about the Cutty Sark. Features highly detailed deck, deck houses, cargo holds and removable covers, masts, yards and booms, bilge pump, windlass, 20 crew figure, lifeboats with oars, life preservers, anchors and anchor chains. With draftline and transom decals, figurehead, finely detailed hull, preformed ratlines and molded deadeyes, pin rails and blocks, full standing rigging instructions and diagrams and thread & chain for rigging. Molded in three colors - black, ivory/white and dark swirl wood tan. The kit has never been started. Beside the hull, all parts are in the rare factory internal box which is almost never present. Even the original factory packing tissue is present along with an unopened tube of Revell "S" Glue. Inventoried with all parts, 'excellent+' condition decals and 'near mint' instructions and plans present.

Molded in three colors. The model has never been started. Inside, the parts are still in the factory sealed bags and it includes decals, instructions, rigging material, chain and rigging diagrams. Please NOTE that the decal backing paper has bug damage but the actual transfers are clear. The sails have the usual wear on kits this age.

Renwal The Visible Airplane Engine WASP 9 Cylinder Radial by Pratt & Whitney, 1/4, 809-1495

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

From the late 1950s. Very large (1/4 scale) and highly detailed kit. By far the finest working visible aircraft engine kit ever made. Comes with electric motor, gear and battery boxes and all hardware. Transparent housings permit viewing the correctly working pistons, valves, rocker arms, connecting rods, cam and gears in action with synchronized firing of the spark plugs using red electric bulbs. Propeller also changes pitch. Kit is molded in clear, red, black, blue metallic and gray plastic. The box is one of the best I have ever had but has wear as shown. Color and gloss are very good and all four corners are solid and original. The inner box is excellent- all cardboard inserts and clear panels are intact as shown and display very well. The bottom box (tray) is solid and 'good' with the main flaw being fading to the bottom. The kit has not been started. It has been carefully inventoried and the plastic parts are 100% complete. The metal parts and bulbs are all still in factory sealed envelopes. The Renwal cement is present and mint. Includes instructions, parts sheet, yellow lubrication warning, small Renwal catalog and special booklet on 'The Aircraft Engine and How It Operates.'
