Bandai 1905 Itala Motorized, 1/16, 0538063

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare, large-scale motorized kit that is highly detailed. Has an incredible drive system: the RE260 motor is neatly and completely hidden in the scale engine; it turns a gearbox consisting of a pinion and three gears. The drive output goes into the manual transmission, which is actually shifted with the scale lever in the interior. The driveshaft exits the gear box and goes to the rear transaxle where it drives the two rear wheels. When the engine is running, the exposed valve push rods go up and down. Naturally there are many metal parts involved and the batteries are cleverly hidden. The steering works from the steering wheel. The kit features a detailed, scale engine, rolling chassis construction, full suspension and exhaust details, ignition wiring, removable hood, full interior, brake levers and brake linkage and more. Beautifully molded in red, orange, silver, black, clear, brass plate, rubber tires, many metal parts, ignition wire, hose coupling and even fabric straps for the spares. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. This kit must be shipped insured.

Comet Gull by Carl Goldberg - 42 inch Wingspan Wakefield Type Flying Model, Y13-129

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

1950s/early 60s issue that was purchased new on January 30, 1963. Please note the 'Coca-Cola' bottle box near the lad's snack tray. This is one of the famous Carl Goldberg designs of a cabin class competition endurance model. Features high quality printwood, strip wood, spars and other wood stock as required, fully formed wheels, beautiful large machine-cut balsa prop, finished thrust button and other factory cut parts, metal stock and a huge set of detailed, full size plans with construction notes. Never started and inventoried complete. These aircraft were common in the 1930s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes reached it's zenith. It was not uncommon for these models to fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
