Comet Taylorcraft - 54 inch Wingspan Flying Model for RC, 3505-300

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Sold

1970s very large scale kit with 54 inch wingspan. For rubber or gas free flight or RC (radio control). This is a reissue of a much older Comet kit. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with high-quality balsa pre-cut stringers, balsa printwood, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, rubber, tissue and propeller. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Revell Tactical Missiles Dart and Little John, 1/40, H547-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+++

Sold

This is not the 'S' issue, but is the rarer final issue from 1963. The part number and name were changed also but the 'S' box art is still used. Note that the the kit is called 'Tactical Rockets' instead of the original Tactical Missiles'. The side panels show Revell's then new series of 1/72 scale WWII aircraft. These missile models are well detailed. The Dart includes four missiles, one launcher, three stands, decals, one optical guidance unit and a crew of three. The Little John includes a detailed launcher with elevating rails, movable support legs, decals and crew of three. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including all paperwork also in the bag. Little John was a light-weight free-flight rocket that was highly mobile. It could be pulled on it's launcher or transported by helicopter. Length was 12 feet long and the warhead was atomic. The Dart was a very early 5-foot long wire guided anti-tank missile with a solid propellant rocket motor. An optical rangefinder was used for guidance.

Monogram Douglas DC-10 American Airlines - (ex Aurora - Molds Modified), 1/144, 5413

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1978 issue after Monogram bought Aurora's assets. Monogram only reissued the best and most commercially viable models, and the DC-10 fell into that category- but only after Monogram highly modified the molds to make it more accurate. The result is possibly the best early DC-10 Series 10 kit in this scale. First, Monogram made the fuselage smooth - no windows. Then they added very, very fine raised panel lines to all surfaces and added flap hinge covers (fairings) to the lower wings. Contains excellent, full American Airlines and window decals. This kit has not been started. The parts are still in the factory sealed bag. Includes decals and instructions.

Monogram Dornier Do-17 Flying Pencil - Blue Box Issue, 1/72, PA214-150

Supermodel Savoia SM-81 Pipistrello - (SM81), 1/72, 10-008

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Well detailed and nicely molded model. Kit includes two cowlings for Piaggio and Alfa Romeo engined versions, full interior details, retracting and rotating turrets with elevating guns, optional position crew doors, separately molded control surfaces, rotating props and wheels, optional torpedo and markings for two aircraft (camo and Pipistrello). Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The SM 81 was an Italian bomber / torpedo bomber / transport in service from 1935 and 1945. It was derived from the MS 73 transport in 1934 and ordered into mass production following successful testing. The aircraft saw action in Eritrea/Ethiopia, Spain and Spanish Morocco, Libya, Albania, Italy and East Africa. Some even saw action in the Italian and Finnish Air Forces after WWII.

Aurora Gotha Bomber - Abare Issue, 1/48, 126-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Dated 1958 with no 'Famous Fighters' in the sunburst logo and a zip code on the box side address. That makes this the Ross Abare reissue, probably from the 1970s. Features the original classic Jo Kotula artwork. Large 1/48 scale model that is very nicely detailed for the time. Molded in the correct burgundy and black. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: one fuel line has 1mm of the tip broken off and missing. Decals are intact but have visible cracks. Instructions are badly stained but complete. Box appears much better than the 'Good' grade. There is a fine cut on on the box top that is very hard to see and a large dent in the upper top side. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

Revell Space Station by Scientist Ellwyn E. Angle - 'S' Kit, 1/96, H1805-498

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

The Holy Grail of old Revell models. The box has great color and gloss and displays better than the 'very good' grade. I graded it such because there are two split corners and one seam neatly and correctly repaired from the inside. First and only issue dated 1959 of this large kit. The molds have been damaged which prevents a reissue. Highly detailed with many moving parts. Includes main space station with opening walls, airlocks, rotating top and bottom sections, rotating radar assembly and fully detailed interior.
