Aurora North American B-70 Valkyrie Bomber (XB-70A), 1/105, 370-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

First issue hardbox from 1962. This box has, in my opinion, some of the best Jack Leynnwood box art. Jack primarily did Revell artwork, but since he was freelance, he did others as well. At this point, the XB-70 was planned for production, so the kit is called the B-70 and the artwork shows a winter night-time quick turn around of a SAC B-70 while another Valkyrie roars overhead after takeoff. The box is in excellent condition with very little wear, four solid corners, no repairs, stains, price tag or tape/tape marks. Very large kit with 6 detailed General Electric J93-3 engines, landing gear and clear canopy. Molded in ivory white and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays better than the 'good-' grade. It is graded as such as there is heavy wear on the right short side panel and the right side of the bottom long side panel.

Aurora Japanese Sub I-19, 1/275, 728-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Mint

Sold

The original owner carefully cut around the factory seal and left it on the box top, thus creating a rare 'mint' condition, investment grade box. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. 1969 issue in the 'Big A' hardbox. Large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. This is an excellent model from Aurora's efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that most of their kits were outclassed, so in the mid and late 1960s they cut a new molds with much better detail - the I-19 was one of those. Includes extra-large display stand, regular display stand, decals, flag sheet, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower and deck guns. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Planet Models F-91 III Thunderceptor Radar Version (XF-91B), 1/72, 143

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Rare. Beautiful resin kit with all fine recessed panel lines, detailed cockpit, two vacuform canopies, separately molded elevator and rudder control surfaces, detailed gear wells, drop tanks and full decals. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The famous 1948 Thunderceptor was a very advanced design, but hybrid jet and rocket engine system created problems, among other things. When newer, cheaper all-weather designs such as the Convair F-102 became available, the test flying program slowed down and the USAF lost interest. Republic's response was this aircraft, a modified XF-91 with a radar nose, designated XF-91B All-Weather Fighters. This was the second prototype, and it was eventually destroyed. But the original XF-91 is preserved at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

An excellent kit for that time with very fine recessed panel lines and fine raised rivets. Molded in gloss silver and clear, featuring pilot and co-pilot, top turret that rotates and guns that elevate, rotating props and wheels and the famous clear swivel base. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: three prop blades are neatly broken at the hub base.
