MPC Dead Man's Raft Walt Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean', 1/12, 1-5005-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Still factory sealed but the seal has split on the left side panel and some of the bottom. Never opened. Rare original issue from 1972. The big 1/12 scale MPC 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series were unique and they all became classic kits. Each kit was a full diorama and included extra bones, etc so you could add your own touch. The 'Zap Action' feature was always interesting. In the case of the Dead Man's Raft, you raise the lid and a skeleton raised up to stick a knife in the treasure map!

Revell Junkers G 38 (G-38) Lufthansa, 1/144, 04053

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Hugo Junkers giant G-38 was the wonder of Europe during it's airliner service in 1930. The airplane was the largest in the world at the time. First class was seated in the enormous wing leading edge. The G38 was the subject of some art-deco Lufthansa posters showing no aircraft but a huge shadow of a G38 looming over Europe. These posters are very valuable today. The model is very nicely detailed. Includes full interior. Includes decals for D-AZUR and D-APIS. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Hasegawa Mikasa IJN Battleship - 'The Battle of the Japan Sea', 1/350, Z21

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Still factory sealed. Superbly molded and detailed full-hull model has 420 pieces. Mikasa was the only ship of her class and took part in the Russo-Japanese war. In the late 1890s the Japanese shipyards were not quite yet ready for such a project, so the Navy contracted with Vickers in Great Britain to build this ship, which is actually a highly modified Formidable class. Mikasa saw a great amount of action at Port Arthur and the Battle of the Yellow Sea. She was preserved as a museum ship in 1923. Mikasa suffered from neglect during and after WWII, but was restored to her former glory in the 1950s after a campaign led by the Japan Times and Admiral Chester Nimitz. The Mikasa is the only surviving pre-dreadnought in the world.

Miniature Masterpieces Wells Fargo Stage Coach - with Driver / Messenger and Four Horses, 1/48, K501-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Rare early 1950s original issue. The box is in 'near mint' investment-grade quality. Color and gloss are as new. Molded in dark wood brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. The model includes detailed instructions (rare for the early 1950s) and a wonderful history of this Stage Coach. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The factory krinkle bag is still present. Instructions are excellent. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare.
