Lindberg F-86D Sabre Jet Fighter - with First Logo, 1/48, 522-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Very rare first Lindberg issue with the 'script' logo. From the 1950s with dramatic Ray Gaedke artwork. Molded in high gloss silver and clear. Includes script logo decals and early 'rectangle' instructions which was common. The box was originally numbered 522-79 and has been over-stamped with a factory '98' for the price. Lindberg always used up any old stock and never seemed to waste any boxes, parts, decals or instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box shows better than VG++, but I have graded it as such because there are tears from the factory tape on the long sides. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Lindberg F4U-5N Corsair, 1/48, 512

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Very rare kit from about 1954 or earlier. First Lindberg issue with no price suffix and borrowing the Ray Gaedke artwork that he did for the O-Lin issue. As a matter of fact, this box still says 'For Best Results Use O-Lin's Polystyrene Cement' This kit is in fantastic investment grade 'near mint' condition. The box has fantastic color and gloss, four solid corners, no price tags or tag marks and no tape other than the light marks from the factory tape. The only flaws are light general wear. Inside, the kit is factory-new, molded in a brilliant metallic high-gloss dark blue and clear. It has never been started. The small parts are still sealed in the factory 'krinkle' bag and all other parts have been inventoried present, along with beautiful flat decals and 'excellent' instructions.

Lindberg Lockheed F-94C Starfire, 1/48, 519-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++++

Sold

Late 1950s kit with dramatic Ray Gaedke artwork. Probably the second issue of this kit. Color and gloss are as new, there are no price tags or tag marks and all four corners are solid and original. Box displays 'near mint' but was graded 'excellent++++' due to clear tape on the sides once used to keep the box closed. Features two pilots with seats, clear canopy, raised panel detail, full landing gear (can easily be built with gear in the retracted position also), 'rocket' nose, display stand and colorful decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Lindberg Junkers Ju-87B Stuka, 1/48, 524-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

Sold

Late 1950s hardbox issue with Ray Gaedke box artwork. Please note that this is an early issue (probably the first, see below) with the white circle on the rudder hiding the swastika. However, the decals had the swastika, so the factory partially cut them from the sheet. As a historical note, Rau Gaedke painted the original artwork with swastikas, and the decals were made that way also. Lindberg quickly recognized that this was poor publicity and more importantly that the kit could not be sold in Europe. A box with the swastikas has yet to be found, so at this point we assume that the original artwork was modified just before the first issue - and that this is the first issue. The second (and much more common) issue had the white circle painted green like the rudder and the decal sheet was completely redesigned to exclude it also. Molded in correct gloss medium green and clear, with the futuristic Lindberg 'V' shaped clear stand. For it's time, this was an excellent kit with fine panel and rivet detail. Features crew of two and seats, separately molded rudder and flap/ailerons, four small wing load bombs and a center bomb with 'swing arm' so that it would clear the prop in a dive. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Thanks to Dusty Rhodes for this information: The markings with this model, A5+HL, are from a -B2 (Trop.) captured intact in North Africa, 1941 and shipped to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It is still there today (2020). This may very well be the aircraft that Lindberg Skokie-based designers examined as a basis for this model.

Lindberg Japanese Fighter A6M2 Zero, 1/48, 514-79

Revell The Visible V8 Transparent Motorized Operating Auto Engine - (ex-Renwal), 1/4, H902

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1977 issue. This model is a very early Revell issue shortly after the Renwal molds were purchased. Because of that, it is the only time that Revell issued the kit exactly as Renwal did. The model is motorized and features over 100 moving parts. It is molded in clear, red, black and silver. When built, all major internal parts move via electric motor and spark plugs (red lights) flash in time. This kit has never been started. All plastic parts but the black ones still in the factory sealed bags. The black parts had a tear in the bag, so I opened them, inventoried them complete and put them in a new bag. Includes 'How An Automobile Engine Works' book (ex-Renwal book) and full instructions.
