Pyro Bentley Competition Speed Six, 1/32, C323-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of their kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. The Bentley Speed Six did more than any other model to promote Bentley's performance and status. Factory raced versions won the 24 Hours at Le Mans and Brooklands. The model includes dark red and clear injection molded parts, wire wheels, detailed chassis with separated molded underpan and exhaust and complete interior. Ideal for slot car conversion. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

His designs and number of titles won in competition at the Nationals is legendary. His first competition was the 1928 Nationals, where he received honorable mention. By 1934 he won the indoor Nats and in 1935 he opened a Hobby Shop, among the first in the nation (the first one was probably opened by Cleveland Models Ed Packard). Awards came quickly. He wrote articles for Model Airplane News, and was Comet's top designer from 1939 till 1945. After Comet, he worked with Mike Schlesinger and Sid Axelrod on what eventually became Top-Flite Models. In 1955 he founded Carl Goldberg Models and released a still-popular line of scale, rubber, gas, glider and RC models. Needless to say, Goldberg's models are of the highest quality.
