Sterling Ju-87 Stuka Drops Bombs in Flight - 20 inch Wingspan for Free Flight / Control Line / R/C, A6-198

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Purchased new on March 31, 1966 at Hobbyville in Cleveland, OH. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that drops the centerline bomb in flight. Can be flown with rubber, electric or gas control line or converted to RC with modern lightweight systems. Features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine cowl, exhaust manifolds, bomb, spinner and wheel pant, beautiful clear vacuformed one-piece canopy (still mint not yellowed), rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of full color decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started and complete. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

AMT 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 Door Hardtop Promo, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare promotional in superb condition. The model was obtained in the late 1960s by a discriminating adult collector in Lexington KY. The color and gloss are like new. The rear bumper has 'excellent' chrome, while the front bumper chrome is only 'good' with dome age pitting on the surface facing up. There is zero body warp and the clear is in 'near mint' condition. I would grade this one 9 out of 10 with 10 flawless. The deduction is because of the front bumper.

AMT 1968 Lincoln Continental Promo With Original Box, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Rare promotional in superb condition. This is a one owner model and was obtained in 1968 by an adult collector in Lexington KY. The color and gloss are like new, the chrome is 'factory-new' condition and the model has never been played with. There is zero body warp and the clear is in 'near mint' condition. Even the factory silver trim paint is excellent. I would grade this one 9.5 out of 10 with 10 flawless. The main deduction is because of very light box scratches on the roof. The original box is 'excellent' and complete.

Cleveland 1933 Waco Cabin Plane C, 1/16, SF-37

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Dated 1933. This is a Cleveland 'SF' or 'Scale Flying' model in museum scale of 1/16. This is the earlier simple cardboard box with the silver printing. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, covering material, highest quality plans, all parts required for assembly and decals (if issued with the kit). The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business - Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.
