Lindberg Lockheed F-94C Starfire, 1/48, 519-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Late 1950s kit with dramatic Ray Gaedke artwork. Probably the second issue of this kit. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Revell Lockheed F-94C Starfire - With One Piece Stand Arm - Pre 'S' Kit, 1/56, H210-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM-

Sold

1954 Pre-S issue. This is the rare second issue. The first issue was in the simple one-piece box and Revell quickly converted to this two-piece box as it was much more durable and a full-color lithographed 'slick' could be used. For the second issue, Revell added rivet and raised panel line detail as well as landing gear, a two piece box and H210-79 kit number. The famous 'Globe' clear stand was added, but this kit has the rare one piece stand arm and the instructions reflecting that. Revell quickly realized that the one-piece arm was not strong enough, and quickly modified it to the familiar three piece arm for the 3rd issue. The box is in exceptional condition with four solid corners, as new color and gloss and minimal wear. The model has never been started. The small parts are still in the small factory bag, and the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried 100% complete. Decals and instructions are in near mint condition as well.

Guillows Vought Corsair F4U - Flying Aircraft Model, 50-11

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Rare stick-and-tissue model dated 1954. This was part of Guillow's extensive '50' line of models with wingspans between 16 and 24 inches. These were very advanced kit for their day, featuring all die-cut balsa parts, stripwood and spars, plastic cowl and wheels, , completely finished wheels and thrust button, plastic prop, metal prop shaft, covering tissue and superb plans with numerous construction details. Never started. NOTE: missing canopy. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts and plans. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
