The Seversky 2PA is the two-seat version of the single seat P-35 model manufactured by the Seversky Company, which was later reformed under the name Republic Aviation. In 1935-39, Seversky sold 20 of the aircraft to Japan. The Japanese Navy designated as these as ASV-1 s. Later, Sweden ordered 52 which carried the designation B6.In June 1940, the United States government ordered an embargo on the sale of U.S. made aircraft to all foreign countries except Britain. Sweden had received two aircraft of their order, and the remaining 50 were sold to the United States Army Air Corps and designated the AT-12 Guardsman. It is unlikely that any AT-12 served as an advanced trainer, however, as most were allocated during World War 2 to USAAC base commanding officers as fast transport aircraft. Marvel was a popular manufacture with a large line of army vehicles, tanks of all nations, aircraft and more.

Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model). This lead to one of the most desirable and rare model kits ever produced in the USA - the wood/plastic 1/48 United DC-3 model issued immediately after World War 2. Other than the P-61 and a few other Maircraft offerings, most were simple kits that sold for the low price of about 35 cents and gave the owners many hours of pleasurable work. This kit features a full size plan with instructions steps, fuselage that is about 3D (~80%) cut, profile cut parts, printwood, color insignia and a small sealed envelope of details. The model has not been started and is complete with all parts and plans.

Very rare 1950s gift set. Long before injection molded kit were mass produced in the USA, Monogram created what are widely considered the finest pre-fabricated wooden kits with plastic details. The Speedee-Bilt series were flying models with pre-painted and cut wooden parts with plastic props, cowls, pilots, etc. The Superkits were smaller static models with precarved wooden parts and many plastic details. The kits themselves are rare today, but the gift set is very rare. Monogram issued very few gift sets for injection kits, and even fewer in the early 1950s for the wooden kits. The gift set consists of a special 'Christmas' box with a tray and lift-off top with a cello window. This one contains 2 Superkits (F-84 Thunderjet and F-51 Mustang) and 2 Speedee-Bilts (also the F-84 and F-51). The outer box is intact with the original cello and is in 'very good' displayable condition but is not perfect. It has edge wear, general wear, light staining (visible at the upper left) and two closed split corners. The four kits inside are in mint boxes and have never started. Each is 100% inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Built for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and early gas powered models, all powered by Brown engines, took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all without any operator inputs once the airplane took off. Getting the wing up out of the propeller airflow was a huge improvement, and this type of design proliferated. This is one example of a parasol (with a clever cabin) style 1940s free-flight competition aircraft designed by Wally Simmers. This quality kit includes die-cut printwood, strip wood, fully finished wheels, fully formed wire landing gear struts, die-cut clear windshield, covering tissue and beautiful full size plans. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and paperwork present. Please note that while no work has been done, some parts are neatly (adult) punched out, mainly wing ribs.

Rare solid model from 1942. At that time, their were 'fliers' and 'solids.' 'Fliers' were notoriously off-scale so they would fly well and also lacked detail. 'Solids' were true scale models that were solid wood and designed only to be scale miniatures (they did not fly). This kit has a worn box missing the end flaps, but inside it is complete with all parts and full-size plans with instructions and a description of this rare aircraft. There are three sheets of printwood and a block for the fuselage. The model has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and plans present. Please note, this is war time model so compressed fibre-board has been substituted for balsa wood. Marvel Mfg.
