Airfix Blackburn NA-39 Buccaneer - Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 4-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good++

Sold

Still factory sealed but the seal has split on the right side (and some is missing as shown). This 1960s model sports some of the most dramatic Craftmaster aircraft artwork ever made. A British carrier waves off a very heavily damaged Buccaneer, while enemy ships are within visual range. Other Buccaneers are taking heavy and accurate fire from the enemy, while one nearby ship is engulfed in flames. Propeller driven aircraft (Japanese Kate) fall burning from the sky. Kit features working unique rotating bomb bay, folding wings and working arresting hook. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal.

Sanwa Zero Fighter, 1/85, 1110

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Dates from the early 1960s and very hard to find. The kit is dated by the 'Tokyo Plamo' logo, which was used between 1960 and 1964. Inside, the model is factory new - all the parts and decals are still in the factory sealed clear bag. With instructions in 'excellent' condition. Sanwa was one of Japan's earliest post-WWII kit producers, making model kits in the 1950s; some sources say 1955. Kits were marketed under Sanwa and Tokyo Plamo, with the general consensus being the the later logo came out around 1960 or later. Production ended in 1964, making all Sanwa kits rare and collectible. The entire line was extensive. It included very small scale tanks (some that were motorized), battleships in three scales with the larger ones motorized with dual prop drive, slot cars, civil sport boats and an electric outboard, a full line of hand gun models that actually shot plastic bullets, two fighter groups and bomber groups (probably Monogram), several different lines of scale aircraft, missile kits, scale (static) car models of early Japanese automobiles, at least 7 flying model aircraft that had electric and rubber motors, a 'Super Control Stand' P-51 that moved with a joystick and had an electric propeller and sound unit, two different lighthouses and a windmill, an air cushion boat, motor cycles, a diving submarine (electric) and a working (rubber band) George Washington Class SSBN and even a garden tractor with an electric motor. Just before going out of business, Sanwa issued some kits in conjunction with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic games - these kits even included a copy of an Olympic medal.

Academy 1804 Trevithick The World's First Steam Locomotive, 1/38, CA-041

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Still factory sealed. From ex-Entex molds and well detailed. The world's first locomotive was the 1804 Trevithick. On February 13 of that year, Richard Trevithick's high pressure steam locomotive pulled five wagons carrying 10 tons of iron and 70 men on the Penydaren Tramroad from Methyr to Abercynon, Wales. The nine miles was covered in four hours and five minutes but much time was lost cutting down several trees and removing some large rocks. At times they reached the unheard of speed of five miles per hour! The performance won a 500 Pound wager for the train's owner, Mr. Samuel Homfrey and proved for once and for all that smooth steel wheels could obtain traction on a smooth iron rail. Until this day, conventional wisdom insisted that only geared wheels running on geared track would be able to pull any load up the slightest grade. Older but very nice kit that is well detailed and molded. Includes display stand.

Revell Brewster Buffalo F2A - Great Britain Issue, 1/72, H636

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1964 Revell of Great Britain issue. This is the 'larger' box variant of the two GB issues. Classic Brian Knight box art of a Buffalo departing from a Lexington-class carrier in the early configuration. Like most GB issues, this kit features a three piece opening canopy, while the USA issue has a one-piece canopy. Molded in white and clear and with US Navy decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that there is no stand, which I believe to be correct. The stand is shown on the instructions, but Revell used these instructions after discontinuing the stand. Also, the decal sheet does NOT have the stand decal, verifying this issue did not come with a stand.
