The first operational jet fighter for the USA, F-80s played key rolls in the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War. The two seater (available as a Hawk kit) was used as a trainer long after the Shooting Star left service. Well detailed kit has optional parts to be built as a fighter-bomber or fighter-interceptor. Features detailed cockpit and machine gun bay, removable gun hatch, optional position canopy, detailed gear wells, removable tail section with detailed turbojet engine (aft section), a stand for the rear fuselage section and more. Rare and very early 1950s issue and likely the first Lindberg release. Features the first Lindberg round logo with the correct very small and narrow hardbox. It is amazing that a 1/48 Starfire even fits in the box, but it does if you pack it very carefully. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear and with the early Lindberg 'triangle' based two-piece display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in remarkable 'near mint' condition and the instructions are 'very good.' The box is only 'good-' because of scuff and wear shown and also masking tape placed neatly on all four corners and an additional piece at the center of each long side.
