Rare hardbox kit from 1961 has fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock'. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions included. The box would grade slightly higher than 'excellent' but it rated as such because there is residue from old tape on the two long sides. Included in the famous 'Whip Fly' series are the H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home around groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

1954 'US Antique' series issue molded in black plastic. This kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions present. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo only on the box top. Not long after this, the Gowland logo would disappear completely, leaving only the Revell logo. It is also worth noting that this is one of the first non-generic Highway Pioneers boxes. Earlier boxes were all the same, with the kit number and car stamped on the side, usually with a red or black rubber stamp. This box is completely dedicated to the Duryea kit, and even has advertisements for the early Revell 1954 ship and aircraft kits on the long sides. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Very Rare 1960 hardbox first issue and ever rarer in this condition. The 'Excellent++' condition box features great framable John Steel artwork. Inside, it even contains a factory-wrapped very colorful metal tube of 'S' glue as well as a history of the Seeadler, a message from Count Luckner, a map of the journey and locations & names of all the ships sunk by the raider. This is a kit of a fantastic subject, the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. It is a very well detailed model for that time and has a full hull, display stand, detailed deck houses and deck fittings, davits and ship's boats, guns, fife rails, preformed rat lines, rigging material, rigging instructions and much more. Molded in gray, brown & black plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes the flag sheet and instructions. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.

One of the 'Holy Grails' of 1950s Space Kits and in great condition inside and out. This is the 1957 first and only issue 'S' Kit with fantastic box art. The molds were reportedly damaged beyond use, which makes reissues impossible. The spaceship was designed by the rocket scientist Ellwyn E. Angle of Systems Laboratories Inc. Features detailed manned top stage with full interior, removable top, opening hatch, spaceship and ground crew members and detailed working launch pad. The main stages and boosters snap apart to recreate all phases of the flight from Earth takeoff, Lunar Landing and Return to Earth. The included 'XSL-01 Operations Manual' outlines in words and illustrations each phase of the spaceship's trip. Molded in the correct gloss orange, silver, gloss metallic blue and clear. Never started. All internal factory cardboard presentation material is present and excellent. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are perfectly flat, 100% intact and graded 'excellent++' with very light age yellowing as the only flaw. The Operations Manual booklet is in 'excellent' condition. The instructions are graded 'Very Good+' only because a previous owner marked off the part numbers as he inventoried the kit; other than that, they are fine. The box is graded 'very good' and features factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, fading or stains, no price tags or marks from price tags. Flaws include light creases as shown on the two lower corners, light surface wear (mainly to the right of "Space Ship" as shown) and a 1" x 1/2" tape tear on the right long side. Shipping insurance is required on this kit.
