Lindberg F-86D Sabre Jet Fighter - with First Logo, 1/48, 522-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$115

Very rare first Lindberg issue with the 'script' logo. From the 1950s with dramatic Ray Gaedke artwork. Molded in high gloss silver and clear. Includes script logo decals and early 'rectangle' instructions which was common. The box was originally numbered 522-79 and has been over-stamped with a factory '98' for the price. Lindberg always used up any old stock and never seemed to waste any boxes, parts, decals or instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box shows better than VG++, but I have graded it as such because there are tears from the factory tape on the long sides. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufactures.

Revell DC-7 Flagship American Airlines - One-Piece Stand Arm Pre -S Issue, 1/122, H219-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$165

1954/55 Pre-S issue with the fantastic artwork of a DC-7 at the moment just before touchdown. Please note, this is the true first issue with the one-piece plastic stand arm, separate wheel axles, main gear struts without holes and instructions that illustrate this. Both arrangements - the one piece stand arm and odd struts with separate axles - proved to be very weak designs. Few were made as Revell quickly corrected it. The second issue has the familiar two piece stand arm, axles modlded into the wheels and inserts for the axles on the main struts. Correctly molded in gloss silver and clear and a large, colorful decal sheet. The instructions have a large, detailed American Airlines route map on the back. Decals are excellent with no curl and very light yellowing. The instructions are intact but grade 'good' due to a stain in the middle. The instructions can be read fine through the stain, but it does distract from them. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The box appears better than 'Good++', but is graded as such because you can see stains at certain acute angles.

Micro West Ford SIAM (Self Initiated Anti-Aircraft Missile) or SUBADS (Submarine Air-Defense System) Factory Model, 1/10

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$475

Very rare factory display model of the 1970s DARPA SIAM project, which was short for Self-Initiated Anti-Aircraft Missile. The idea was to develop a copmletely autonomous air-defense missile. One of the most obvious purposes was for use onboard submarines. The submarine can hear the aircraft or helicpoter as it approached since the sound propagates through the water. The submarine could then launch a SIAM buoy to the surface, where the missile would automatically detect and attack any incoming aircraft. It was also theorized that SIAM could be launched vertically from the submarine itself. SIAM was tested in the early 1980s and was generally successful. DARPA handed SIAM over to the Navy, where it was deactived due to funding. This factory model is complete with it's original stand. The wooden base has a metal disk showing a submarine launching a SIAM, which is shown executing it's 'dual homing' functions. The missile is just over 7 inches long. Condition is excellent. There base and metal badge are near mint. The missileis excellent, with all original paint and decals. There is some minor wear on some of the port gold decals.

Delta 2 S-55 X Savoia Marchetti - (S.55X), 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$79

The first aircraft to fly across the Atlantic in formation! The S-55 was a unique aircraft with the passenger compartments in the floats and the cockpit in the wing; the two engines are mounted in tandem push/pull above the cockpit. The S-55 proved to be very reliable and airworthy, setting 14 world records for speed, altitude and distance with a payload. Three months before Lindbergh's solo Atlantic flight, and S-55 flew with stops from Italy to Rio and NY City. In 1933 Marshal Balbo led 25 S-55s to Chicago in about 48 hours. He then flew back without incident. This issue did not come with the color reference booklet. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

The long WWII voyage was legendary, and the ship is well represented in this full-hull model. Covers can be removed to reveal hidden guns, torpedo tubes and the Ar-196 floatplane. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
