From Italaerei molds. The Do-24 was being build in Holland under license . When the Germans invaded, they found 3 done and 25 in various states of completion. The Air Ministry was looking for aircraft suitable to salvage sunk aircraft, and the Do-24 fit the bill. The American Wright engines were removed and BMWs installed. The Do-24 went on to see successful service in WWII as recon, supply and ambulance aircraft. A squadron was supplied to Spain, and one Do-24 remained operational until 1970. Never started. Discontinued and hard to find. This is an amazing kit, please read carefully. All parts are precision and professionally painted. All hull shading, markings and details are perfectly duplicated. All markings (example: NCC-74656) are all painted also. The paint job is flawless and stunning. There are a few detailed photos of the dozens and dozens of parts . The entire hull, saucer and warp engines are lit internally with the included lighting kit. The amazing part is that the model was designed from the ground up to be lit, so it has the following features: parts are molded in black plastic or have the inside surfaces painted so there is no light bleed through - there are numerous clear plastic light diffusers so the lighting is distributed evenly for a perfect effect. Where special effects are needed with lighting, such as the warp engines or navigational deflector, the pattern is molded into the clear piece and if needed, the clear is tinted blue, etc for the proper effect. The base holds the batteries. All parts are very carefully factory sealed so there are no scratches. The assembled model is 16.2 inches long. Never started. All items in original factory sealed. Complete.

During its short existence (1928-1936) the Great Lakes Aircraft Corporation had only one type achieve series production, the BG-1. It was designed as a scout and dive bomber and was very well liked by those who flew it. The range was a bit shorter than desired with a 1000 lb, so Great Lakes designed the XB2G-1, which was a greatly modified BG-1 that carried the bomb internally among other changes. However when it was ready for testing, there were much better performers for the dive bombing task. Very high quality kit with metal parts, full decals and molding that rival or surpass injection molded parts in detail. Includes full interior detail. Still factory sealed.
