From the 1940s or very early 1950s. The scale is not given, but the wingspan is 8 inches. This is a higher-quality solid wood scale kit featuring all die-cut balsa parts, bread-and-butter fuselage constructions, die cut wings, printwood tail feathers and other parts, fully finished wheels, clear vacuform canopy (in like-new condition, very highly detailed plans with templates, step-by-step construction and even a painting guide. Never started and complete. The original part number of this kit was 25 S9, but the factory over-stamped it with the number listed.
Hudson Miniatures 1903 Rambler Old Timers, 1/16

Very well detailed large 1/16 kit from 1949. Features plastic wheels, lights, other accessories and wooden main parts and occasionally metal parts and cardstock. Although all of Hudson's 1/16 kits have excellent detail, this one has even more detail than usual thanks to Hudson's engineers having access to the actual car. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, plans and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved not to be a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own all-plastic, small-scale competition called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits.' The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Additionally, sales of the excellent wooden kits faltered further in the next few years with the introduction of accurate, 1/24 and 1/32 all-plastic cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue the wood kits and the plastic line was sold to Revell and subsequently re-released. Today, these excellent, big 1/16 kits are often the only model available of these early automobiles. In the mid 1960s Aurora thought so highly of Hudson Miniatures that they purchased the wood kit assets and released a very small number of these in all-plastic models.

Still factory sealed. 1970s Life-Like issue from original 1960s Pyro molds. Features detailed molded chassis underside with separately molded front and rear suspension, complete interior, top boot or top in the 'up' position and rear trunk mounted spare tire. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of its kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Pyro stated that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car.

Hard-to-find kit in the Heller 'Yellow Box' design from the early 1960s. Has 46 parts and decals for the Italian Air Force The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. In 1961, the US Army evaluated four 'Ginas' for possible use in the close support/forward air control role. Despite much anticipatory rejoicing by Army aviators, this interesting project was abandoned when most fixed wing types were transferred to the USAF.

1960s issue in the larger format box with black box sides. The smaller box is kit #6-39. A well-holed and damaged FW makes a hasty power-off landing in this dramatic box art. The emergency vehicles race down the runway ready to douse the flaming engine. The pilot has the canopy open to clear the smoke or to make a hasty exit...or both. The kit has never been started. Very rare kit with a fascinating history. Around 1958/59, Orange Crush of Mexico offered a promotion. They offered free, colorful, plastic model cars if you collected correctly-marked Orange Crush bottle caps. The models are 1/32 scale Revell Highway Pioneer series - although there is no mention of Revell or Lodela anywhere on the box. Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacturer. They were never given numbers. The boxes were very thin and fragile cardboard. This has contributed to wear and you must be very cautious with them. The kit has never been started. The parts have been inventoried complete and includes the instructions. NOTE: this kit has the front springs broke off one side of the body half. You will need to repair it if you wish to build it. You could redeem your caps two ways - at the Orange Crush truck and at a Modelandia Hobby House. The box sides show the 18 cars in the series. Orange Crush also released two full-color booklets and a complete paint set for the cars. A colorful cardboard box held 7 colors of paint in glass bottles, complete with 'Orange Crush' screw-on caps! The entire promotion was done in coordination with Modelandia Hobby House which had up to 19 stores. Modelandia's name appears on each of the boxes and the paint as well. Robina S.A. was the bottler or distributor of Orange Crush in Mexico at that time. The box side lists the other 18 kits with small color pictures of each and shows three sizes of OC - Family Size (Familiar), Grand (Grande) and Normal. You could also obtain models with Titan bottle caps. Titan was also bottled by Robina and came in large (Titan) and smaller (Titancito) sizes and apparently more than one flavor. We do not know how Orange Crush had access to the plastic kits or who sealed the internal bags with the Crush instructions inside them. We can assume that it may have been Lodela, since they would have had access to the Revell molds. It is not know for how long the promotion lasted, but Orange Crush was one of the most dominant soft drinks in Mexico at that time. Here is one clue: some boxes claim that Modelandia had 13 locations; other boxes, which obviously came later on, claim 19 locations. This may indicate that this promotion went on for a significant amount of time.

NOTE: missing prop retainer and display stand. Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions. I believe this is a 'Yunyj Tyechinik' release and not the earlier MZMPI. This company succeeded MZMPI (which was the first kit manufacturer in the USSR) and continued till a new name was introduced in the mid 1970s. Yak-18s have been observed in service with the North Korean air force as recently as August 2018.

Aurora Regulus II Guided Missile with Launcher, 1/48, 378-249

1958 release of this kit featuring classic Jo Kotula boxart. The large 1/48 scale missile comes with a fully operational scale launcher. The hardbox has 'very good' color and gloss, four solid corners, no price tag or tape tears and no torn or missing litho. Flaws include general wear and edge and corner wear as shown. The kit has never been started and is factory new inside right down to the original tissue packing paper. Aurora factory sealed the silver parts and the red missile parts; these are both still sealed. The deep blue parts were not sealed but have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals and instructions in 'excellent' condition. This kit must be shipped insured. The Aurora "Missile Line" is legendary. In the late 1950s, the first missile model kits sold briskly, so Aurora and Revell both planned extensive lines. However, the missile modeling craze disappeared as quickly as it started. Models that were in the works were canceled or completed if they were far enough along. Those that were completed were fine efforts but sold poorly and had very short lives, making them rare collector items today.
Pit Road Mikasa Japanese Battleship, 1/700, HM-10

Superbly cast resin waterline model. Castings are superior in detail to injection molded parts. Features resin hull and larger parts, numerous precision cast metal details, metal rod stock and extensive PE parts including railings. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. Mikasa was the only ship of her class and took part in the Russo-Japanese war. In the late 1890s the Japanese shipyards were not quite yet ready for such a project, so the Navy contracted with Vickers in Great Britain to build this ship, which is actually a highly modified Formidable class. Mikasa saw a great amount of action at Port Arthur and the Battle of the Yellow Sea. She was preserved as a museum ship in 1923. Mikasa suffered from neglect during and after WWII, but was restored to her former glory in the 1950s after a campaign led by the Japan Times and Admiral Chester Nimitz. The Mikasa is the only surviving pre-dreadnought in the world.
