The Darracq was designed and built when France was the international center of motor vehicle excellence. While Britain, American and Germany either rejected the motorcar, showed indifference or activly fought to eliminate it, the French accepted it with open arms. As a result, the Darracq and other fine designs were the best automobiles in the world. The model is from 1975 and is a nicely molded kit of this successful early gasoline powered automobile. Early multi-media kit of wood, metal and plastic dated 1949 on the box. Large 1/16 scale kit measures 8 inches long when built. Very nicely detailed with all the complicated parts cast in yellow, light tan or ivory injection molded plastic. Includes full size plans and instructions. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very successful and popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well until the appearance of the much smaller and less scale Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved that they were not a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own small scale competition for them called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits'. The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Sales of wooden kits faltered in the next few years with the introduction of all-plastic injection molded cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue both lines. Today, these excellent kits are often the only large-scale models available of these early automobiles.

Very well detailed large 1/16 kit from 1949. Features plastic wheels, grill, steering wheel, lights and other accessories and wooden main parts. Although all of Hudson's 1/16 kits have excellent detail, this one has even more detail than usual thanks to Hudson's engineers having access to the actual car. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, plans and instructions present. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. 1953 early issue molded in red acetate plastic. This kit has never been started. All parts are still sealed in the factory 'crinkle' bag with instructions. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo on the side. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Rare. When the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' burst upon the hobby scene in 1951, they started a hobby revolution. Plastic model kits were not new in 1951, but successful mass marketing of plastic kits was new. The sensation swept the country, and Gowland & Revell could not make the kits fast enough. The fact that the public was buying these models shocked the successful hobby establishment. One such manufacture was Hudson Miniatures. In the 1940s, Hudson had established a name in making 1/16 scale 'Old Timer' models of automobiles. These were excellent kits with wood and metal parts, but a high degree of skill was required to carve and finish the wood parts. In the late 1940s, they added some injection molded plastic parts (usually acetate wheels) to the series but did not consider a completely plastic kit. When Hudson saw what was happening with the Highway Pioneers, he began to design his own 1/32 scale line called 'Lil Old Timers', which hit the stores in 1954. An early paper fold-out catalog shows 18 models including some real gems like the 1910 International Harvester Passenger Car, 1911 Brush Delivery Truck and 1906 Columbia Electric Car just to name a few. The line was bought by Revell a short time after it's release, and Revell did reissue some (but not all) of the kits. As you would expect from Hudson, this is a nice kit with excellent moldings and detail for the time. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions. The Mercer was perhaps the most famous sports car of it's day, and it can be successfully argued that it was America's first sports car. The 30 horsepower 'T' head 4 cylinder engine sped it along at over 80 miles per hour. A 1914 Mercer clocked 112 mph at Daytona Beach - no mean feat for that age.

George Barris served as the AMT consultant for the customized kits, and designed and built the 'Movie Car of the Year' for the movie Villa Riviera. This model will build the stock, Barris Custom or Barris' movie version. Model includes numerous optional parts for suspension, motor, exterior and interior as well as custom decals. Includes a special clear display stand also. Molded in white, clear and chrome with rubber tires and metal axles. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, vinyl material, decals and instructions. NOTE: box looks better than the 'fair' grade but it is graded that low because there is a large stain and box damage to the lower left long side and short left side of the box top. Additionally, there is identical damage to the tray (lower box) and I would grade it 'fair-.' NOTE: the instructions have only very minor bug damage but the decals have significant damage and are only 70% intact (about 30% destroyed).

Pocher made the finest automobile models ever created. The detail and working parts on these long out-of-production, big 1/8 scale kits is amazing. Recommended for experienced modelers only. This kit is a perfect reproduction of the original car that won 1st place at the 1907 Grand Prix de France with an average of 113.612 KPH with Felice Nazzaro as the pilot. The prototype of this car was used with the original drawings to create this model. It has 823 parts of plastic, brass, steel, leather, iron, rubber, copper, aluminum and other materials. Features include super detailed engine, opening hood, complete interior, all pilot controls, operating steering, working suspension, operating steel drive chains and more. The kit has never been started. Almost all the parts are still in the factory sealed bags; but several bags had torn open due to age. So I inventoried those bags and they are complete. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of its kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Pyro stated that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car.

Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacturer. They were never given numbers. The boxes were very thin and fragile cardboard. This has contributed to wear and you must be very cautious with them. The kit has never been started. The parts have been inventoried complete and includes the instructions. NOTE: this kit has the front springs broke off one side of the body half. You will need to repair it if you wish to build it. Rare. Original 'Four Star' issue from 1959. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid corners, no tape or price tags and no missing or torn litho. Moderate corner wear on the left and minor corner wear on the right are the only flaws. The kit is molded in the correct high gloss dark blue, silver and black. Features driver, Chrysler dummy engine, six carburetors, drag 'slicks' and pin stripe decals. Includes rope guides and motor mount for powered racing. The instructions provide details on attaching the Jet-X unit to the car. The kit has never been started. NOTE: pinstripe decals are present but 'slingshot' and '7' are missing from the decal sheet. All parts have been inventoried complete including instructions and remaining decals.

The 'Indy Car' is complete but has minor assembly to the engine block and some small details are painted silver; decals are excellent but instructions are missing. Midget Racer has not been started and is complete, including good instructions and decals. The box has wonderful color but wear as shown.
