1968 issue of the famous tandem light aircraft that saw civil and military service. After Aurora purchased the Comet molds, they reissued the Comet civil light aircraft line. It appears that Aurora may have been inspired by the Comet kits or sales of the reissues, and they produced several more new molds to add to the line. This Skymaster is one of those kits. Since the model was designed new, it has significantly more detail than the older Comet kits. Features all recessed panel lines, full interior with front and back bulkheads, four bucket seats and instrument panel, clear windows and rotating propellers. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

Still factory sealed. 1971 block letters logo hardbox issue with the box in rare, factory sealed 'excellent++' condition. The wonderful artwork is by John Amendola. This is still the only early 737 in 1/72 scale. Includes very colorful United decals, clear cockpit windshield, optional position landing gear and display stand.

Rare issue dated 1963 and from ex-Comet molds. Neatly molded with all recessed panel lines, clear side and front windows, tip tanks, rotating propellers, display stand and full pinstripe decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Aurora had started a line of inexpensive 29 cent kits in about 1957. The line was a success, and it was expanded. The line grew again when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, as most of Comet's line was very small scale kits, many of them civil aircraft like this one. It appears that Aurora was encouraged by the sale of the ex-Comet civil aircraft, as it expanded the line with it's own molds in the early 1960s.

Rare 1964 Canadian Flip Top Box issue molded in yellow and clear plastic. Ex-Comet molds in the smaller scale. Ex-Comet molds smaller scale (1/88) issue. Features rotating props, full side and cockpit glass, and blue and red pinstripe decals with N numbers and rudder fin flash markings. Never started and inventoried 100% complete.

Aurora Douglas M-2 Mailplane - Western Air Express CAM Route, 1/48, 111-98

First issue dated 1957 with classic Jo Kotula artwork. Molded in deep gloss burgundy and black plastic. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. This aircraft has a fascinating history. From the internet: The United States Post Office had been running the air mail service since 1918 mainly using variants of the de Havilland DH.4 biplane. In 1925, it decided to modernize and placed an order with Douglas for a replacement aircraft based on the Douglas O-2 observation biplane. The company modified an O-2 by covering over the forward cockpit to make a mail compartment and moving the pilot into what had been the observer's cockpit. The aircraft was designated the DAM-1 (Douglas Air-Mail-One) but this was soon shortened to M-1. The M-1 used the same Liberty engine as the DH.4, which was available in large numbers. Small modifications were made to the exhaust system to keep fumes away from the pilot and the design was considered a success, but was not ordered into production. When the Contract Air Mail (CAM) routes were introduced, the newly formed Western Air Express Company (later Western Airlines) ordered six mailplanes with the designation M-2. The main change from the M-1 was that the tunnel radiator was replaced with a frontal type. It also had the provision to carry a passenger instead of mail in the front cockpit. Just before Western Air Express introduced the aircraft into service (in April 1926 from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City), the Post Office ordered 50 aircraft designated M-3 for its major route network. The M-3 had only detailed differences from the M-2.

Aurora The Barnstormers Customizing Kit DH-4 and JN-4 Jenny, 1/48, 200-198

Rare one-and-only 1960 issue that contains both the DH-4 and Curtis JN-4 Jenny. The box is in exceptional condition with 'excellent' color and gloss, four solid corners, no tape or price tags (and no marks from either), no stains, fading or torn/missing litho. Very light wear and edge wear are the only significant flaws. Aurora really went out of the way to make this a special kit; however, it did not sell well and was retired after one year. Features completely new box artwork, a DH-4 molded in gloss dark green and black, the JN-4 molded in gloss bright yellow and black, great custom decal sheets for both aircraft and special 'Barnstormer' instructions for each aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts present and includes decals and instructions. The instructions sheets are both in 'near mint' condition and the decal sheets are both completely flat with the typical age yellowing as the only significant flaw.

Still factory sealed. Dated 1961. The Convair 880 and it's near sister 990 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs. The 990 was a larger and faster (mach .91) airliner, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two 990s for decades after the last 990 was phased out of commercial service.

Aurora Convair 990 Jet Mainliner United Air Lines, 1/107, 397-198

Very rare kit from 1962. First and only issue. This is the largest injection molded kit ever made of the very fast Convair 990 airliner. The box has as-new color and sheen with four solid corners and no repairs. There are no price tags, tape or price tag/tape marks. The only flaw is light edge wear. The model is molded in the correct white and clear plastic, with the large clear triangle display stand and full color United decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete including all parts, decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both flat with slight yellowing being the only flaw. NOTE: shipping insurance is required with this kit. The Convair 990 and its near sister 880 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. The commercial failure of the 990 caused Aurora to pull these molds from production shortly after the introduction of the kit. The 990 was a larger and faster (Mach .91) airliner than the 880, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made.
