Aurora Martin B-26 Marauder, 1/46, 371-259

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$359

Very rare first issue from the early 1950s. When Aurora moved to the West Hempstead plant, they planned a series of very large scale bombers. All kits released up to this time had been small. Aurora's instincts were correct, and the B-26, B-25 and B-29 were a big sales success. This box art was done by Jim Cox and was only used for about one year, making it very rare. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, large clear stand, instructions and decals. The box has great color, four solid corners with no repairs, no creasing, no stains, fading or writing, no cardboard tears or rips, no price tags and no tape beyond the factory sealing tape. There is light general wear and please note that the box displays slightly better than the 'Excellent' grade but it is rated as such because there is light general wear not visible in the photo and a 1.5" x 3/8" factory tape tear on the top long side.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/48, 102-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$48

First issue from 1956 with Northern Lights logo. This logo was only used for this one year - in 1957 it was replaced by the 'Famous Fighters' oval 'Sunburst'. The box artist on this issue is Jim Cox, one of the first if not the first box artist for Aurora. This kit is part of a very successful WWI aircraft line in 1/48 scale that Aurora introduced this year. The line sold so well that kits were added to it into the 1960s. Molded in the glossy olive drab green and black. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Nieuport 28, 1/48, 108-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$57

First issue from 1957 with an excellent box top. This is the yellow-sided issue without the parents seal on the box art. Molded in the correct gloss gray and black. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

Aurora HC-1B Chinook - (CH-47), 1/48, 350-198

First issue hardbox issue dated 1961 with classic Jo Kotula artwork and the 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the Aurora sunburst logo. Very large 1/48 scale kit with good cockpit and rotor detail, moving rotors, clear side and cockpit windows and full decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora German Sea Raider Atlantis, 1/456, 710-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc +++

$900

First issue. The hardbox is dated 1959 and has the "Famous Fighters" in the oval 'Northern Lights' logo. This is the only kit made of the infamous German WWII converted merchant raider which was the subject of several books and a major movie called 'Under Ten Flags.' The long WWII voyage was legendary, and the ship is well represented in this full-hull model. Covers can be removed to reveal hidden guns, torpedo tubes and the Ar-196 floatplane. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. From modeler Stephen Payne: Recommend that the builder or collector of this kit add the following books to their collection-The German Raider Atlantis by Captain Bernhard Rogge & Wolfgang Frank & Sea Raider Atlantis, Story of a German Surface Raider by Ulrich Mohr & A.V. Sellwood. The first book is by the ATLANTIS commander, Kapitan zur See Bernhard Rogge. He oversaw the transformation and outfitting in Bremen and captained the ship during her 602 day operational voyager which sank or captured 22 ships totaling 144,384 t (142,104 long tons). Rogge also was one of the few German officers of flag rank who was not arrested by the Allies after the war due to the way he had exercised his command of Atlantis. Captain J. Armstrong White, captain of the British CITY OF BAGHDAD, which Atlantis sank in July 1941, stated, "His treatment of prisoners left respect, instead of hatred."The second book is by the ATLANTIS First Officer, Ulrich Moher. Both books read much the same as the events related are the same, but it is interesting to see these events from the two perspectives. Captain White (see above) wrote the foreword to Atlantis, the Story of a German Surface Raider, written by U. Mohr & A. V. Sellwood. The German auxiliary cruiser Atlantis (HSK 2), known to the Kriegsmarine as Schiff 16 (SHIP 16) and to the Royal Navy as Raider-C, was a converted merchant vessel to German Hilfskreuzer (auxiliary cruiser) used for commerce raiding. Commerce raiders did not seek to engage warships, but rather attack enemy merchant shipping; the measures of success are tonnage destroyed (or captured) and time spent "at large" holding up enemy resources. Atlantis had the longest raiding career of any German commerce raider in either world war.

Aurora Northorp N-156 Freedom Fighter - (F-5), 1/48, 140-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$125

Still factory sealed and in investment-grade 'near mint' condition. The only flaw is a split seal on the right short side. 1962 issue with fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork. This kit is a very good representation of the rare 'Freedom Fighter' prototype N-156. It developed into the F-5, which was widely exported and saw service in over 30 countries. Only three of the N-156 prototypes were built. The design centered around two GE J85 turbojets which originally powered the ADM-20 Quail decoy carried by the B-52 fleet. Initially there seemed to be little demand until President Kennedy's Military Assistance Program required a low-cost fighter that could be provided to US Allies. The N-156 was easily the top choice. It was renamed the F-5 and the rest is history - it became one of the most widely used fighter/bombers in post-WWII history and is still in service in some air forces. Kit includes pilot, cockpit and instrument panel and three drop tanks and early AIM-9 Sidewinder Air-to-Air Missiles.

Aurora Fokker D-VII - (D7), 1/48, 106-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$58

Still mint factory seal and in investment-grade condition. Kit is dated 1958, but still has original 1956 box art. The actual issue date is from the mid-1960s due to the 1 dollar price extension and the blue oval logo. Aurora's 1/48 scale WWI line debuted in 1956 with six new kits, and the D-7 was #6. The line proved so successful that Aurora added kits almost every year well into the 1960s. Many of them sold well right up until the end of Aurora in 1976.

Aurora British SE-5 Scout, 1/48, 103-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$46

Still factory sealed. 1963 issue with great Kotula artwork. The box is in investment-grade 'Mint' condition with flawless color and gloss, but please NOTE that there is a closed split on the seal.

Aurora British Churchill Tank, 1/48, 315-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$125

Long hardbox issue dated 1966 and in remarkable, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. The only flaw is very light wear, almost completely restricted to the edges. In those days, it was said by reviewers that Aurora made the best tank kits - this one is no exception. Features all moving bogies and drive wheels, flexible black treads, elevating main gun, rotating turret, one tankman, three soldiers and decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition as well.
