From Corel - The term Flattie indicated in local slang, a boat typical of Chesapeake Bay on the north-east coast of the United States. Attributable to the wide range of boats with V-shaped hull, the Flattie, like all popular boats was of a complex historical evolution and structural adaptation to uses and environments. Between 5 and 9 meters in length, the boat was particularly flat and wide in deck. Already present in the waters of the bay around the middle of last century, the Flattie reached its peak in use in 1880-1890. Originally used to carry local products it was later widely used for the collection of oysters and crabs. This was carried out ploughing the depths. With a short, strong net bag, dragged from the boat by a cable.

Renwal Curtiss Goshawk F11C-2 Aeroskin - USS Saratoga (F11C2), 1/48, 282-149

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

Sold

This is one of Renewal's famous Aeroskin kits, and a rare large one in 1/48. Features markings for the aircraft of "High Hat Squadron," VF-1B commander Seligman aboard the USS Saratoga in the early 1930s. The model has an injection molded inner structure of ribs and stringers like a real aircraft, then the modeler covers it with provided authentic pre-colored Aeroskin fabric. There is no painting needed as elaborate finishes are printed directly on the Aeroskin covering. This results a very realistic and colorful model. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and Aeroskin and instructions are present. NOTE the box is rough and missing the left end panel, but the kit inside is in fine condition and an ideal builder.

Very high quality kit with metal parts and full decals. Esoteric kits were perhaps the finest vacuform kits made. The molding quality rivaled or surpassed most injection molded kits. Guillows Curtiss P-40 Warhawk - 16 inch Wingspan Rubber Powered Balsa Wood Kit, 501

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

From the 1960s. One of a very popular 16.5 inch wingspan series of World War 2 stick and tissue flying kits. Includes die cut balsa parts, vacuform nose, wheels, plastic propeller, hardware, vacuform canopy, colored tissue, insignia and full size plans with detailed building instructions. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Italeri Dornier Do-217 J1/J2 / Frog Heinkel He-111 H-1 H-6 / TWO Mastercraft Yak-6, 1/72, 1266

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good to VG

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 4 kits in the three boxes shown. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous and of his kits that I did inventory, 95% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: he built sub assemblies (cockpit tubs, wing halves, etc...and on the He-111 the fuselage halves) to 'professional' quality. He also almost always removed the displays stands (if provided). Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.
