Another panel comes off at the support for the rotor to reveal internal aircraft structure and the rotor power transmission. Revell SMS Seeadler (Sea Eagle) German WWI Commerce Raider, 1/232, H382-298

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare 1960 hardbox first issue with great John Steel artwork. This ship is a fascinating subject -the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. Revell includes a full page history of the ship, a copy of a letter from Count Luckner and a map showing the voyage and ships sunk. Well detailed for that time. Full hull model is molded in gray, brown and black and includes rigging thread and full rigging instructions. It has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and includes flags and instructions. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.

Life-Like Robert E. Lee Mississippi Steam Boat - (ex Pyro), 1/160, B237

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1970 issue from original Pyro molds. Very large and well detailed kit for that time. The race between the Lee and Natchez is considered a classic tale of The River. Although the Lee won, the circumstances were suspect and many people still considered the Natchez the fastest paddle-wheel packet ever. For example, the Lee carried no payload and the Natchez was carrying passengers and a normal payload. All details of the real ship, including the wooden railings and carvings are duplicated in plastic. Includes full rigging instructions and thread. Molded in tan and ivory plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The very few parts that were never factory sealed (the large ones and paddle wheels) have been inventoried complete including colorful flag sheet and instructions.

Rare first issue hardbox from 1955 with great Ray Gaedke art. This kit has the round Lindberg script logo only on the box top and sides. It originally had a lower price extension on the short sides, but that was factory blacked-out and changed to '79.' Molded in the correct high gloss silver and clear. Never started. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.
