Very rare as the box is in amazing, investment-grade "Near Mint" condition. It has no more wear than if it just came off the assembly line. Ideal ship kits seldom surface, but almost never in this condition. Solid wooden ship model dated 1950. Features and excellent factory-carved hull, three sheets of printwood, numerous hardwood dowels and other strip wood stock, cast metal fittings, rigging beads, black standing rigging thread and superb full size plans. The plans also include complete text building instructions and assembly step/details drawings as well as rigging information. Measures about 15 inches long when complete. Never started. The fittings are all still factory sealed in a small bag. The other parts have been inventoried complete and includes plans. Please NOTE, the plans have never been used but due to age, they have closed splits on some seams and a closed tear.

From 1952. Ideal kits seldom turn up and are even rarer in this condition. The box is in 'excellent+' condition which is very rare. Measures about 14 inches long when assembled. Features an excellent precarved wooden hull that only needs finish sanding, three sheets of quality printwood, stock wood and hardwood dowels, a sealed bag of many cast metal fittings and rigging beads, rigging line and full size plans with detail and assembly drawings, complete text instructions, rigging detail drawings, hull templates, flags and more The kit has never been started. The fittings are still factory sealed in a bag. The other parts have been inventoried 100% complete including instructions.

Life-Like Monitor and Merrimac - (ex Pyro Molds), 09257

Still factory sealed. The Monitor is 10 inches long and the Merrimac is 11 inches long when built. These are not the Lindberg kits but are from the original Pyro molds and have superior detail to the Lindberg issues. The Monitor and Merrimac are the two American Civil War ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the St. James. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.

Still factory sealed but the seal has splits and drawn the box top concave. The original kit is from the 1960s but this is a mid 1970s issue judging from the barcode. Large wingspan flying kit can be powered by rubber or electric and even made R/C with modern servos and receivers. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, markings for US Mail aircraft, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware, wheels, colored tissue and propeller. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
