  Aurora Model Kits

Aurora Fokker D-7 - (D-VII DVII), 1/48, 106-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$52

This model is in investment-grade 'Neam Mint' box condition. Kit is dated 1958, but still has original 1956 box art. The actual issue date is from the mid-1960s due to the lack of a price extension and the blue oval logo. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

Aurora Lockheed F-94C Starfire, 1/82, 495-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$36

Dated 1961 and features Jo Kotula box art. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The box has one large flaw: a crush and closed split corner on the left short side.

Aurora Boeing 707 Pan Am Clipper, 1/104, 381-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$129

Dated 1958, but likely from the very early 1960s judging from the oval logo with no 'Famous Fighters' in the border. Wonderful box artwork by Jo Kotula. One of Aurora's first airliner kits. Molded in white and clear with the large clear 'Triangle' Globe base. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Spitfire Famous Fighters of all Nations First Issue, 1/48, 20-59

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$349

Rare first issue that is 100% correct. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid original corners (no repairs), no fading or stains, no missing litho or tears, no tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape of course). Flaws include very light general wear as shown and moderate corner wear at the lower left corner. This first issue has minimal surface detail and is molded in the correct non-metallic medium blue and clear plastic. It also has the correct rectangle-based clear display stand and the instructions match this perfectly. (The second and all later issues had greatly increased rivet detail and were molded in a metallic blue plastic) The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are flat and in amazing 'near mint' condition with only the slightest yellowing. The instructions are 'near mint+' with slight yellowing being the only flaw. Even the original factory packing tissue is present.

Aurora Focke-Wulf Fw-190 Famous Fighters Of All Nations - First Issue With Swastika, 1/48, 30-59

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

$349

Very rare first issue which includes the proper swastika box art and swastika decals. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid original corners (no repairs), no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the thin factory sealing tape of course), no fading, stains or torn/missing litho. Flaws include general wear as shown, especially to the left corners and edge as shown. This issue is 100% correct for the first release. The FW-190 was originally issued at the new West Hempstead factory, meaning that it was never part of the famous "Brooklyn 8" (Aurora's first 8 aircraft kits). That also means that the first issue had landing gear and bombs but still had the small clear rectangle stand which was also shown on the instructions. The late issue of the '190 also means it is the rarest of the swastika issues because the swastika was painted out a short time after moving to West Hempstead. Molded in the correct gloss black and clear, with the rectangle-based clear stand, matching instructions and a stunning 'near mint' condition decal sheet which is flat and not even yellowed. The instructions are 'excellent' with slight yellowing, light wear and a 3/4" closed split on a fold crease. Even the original factory packing tissue is present.

Aurora North American F-86D Sabre Jet, 1/48, 77-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$58

Still factory sealed. Aurora of Canada issue in investment-grade condition. There is no date on the box but it is from the early to mid 1960s. This model is from the modified Brooklyn U-Ma-Kit F-86D molds; this issue has the added landing gear, ordinance and drop tanks.

Aurora Bristol F2B Brisfit - (F.2B), 1/48, 113-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$74

1957 first issue in fantastic 'Excellent++' condition. The box has perfect color and gloss and four solid corners. The only flaws are very light and isolated age foxing and light wear. This issue has dramatic Jo Kotula artwork and is molded in the correct gloss olive green and black. Inside, the kit has never been started. It still includes the factory packing tissue. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora F9F Panther Jet Sealed, 1/49, 22-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$79

Factory sealed but the seal has a small split at the upper right as shown. Fantastic Jo Kotula artwork is dated 1960. This is actually a newer kit, likely from 1962-64 as it lacks the 'Famous Fighters' logo in the oval border. These molds are from one of Aurora's first two kits - the F9F and F-90. Aurora simply went out and purchased the early Hawk F9F and F-90 kits and copied them almost exactly.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/48, 102-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Mint

$44

Mint condition hardbox. This is the 4th known issue of this classic kit, and the second one to share the 102-100 kit number. The blue oval logo dates from the early 1960s. This is only the second box artwork used for this kit, and John Steel replaced Cox for the 'new look' from Aurora. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

Aurora Pan Am Space Shuttle Orion From 2001 A Space Odyssey, 1/144, 252

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$149

Still factory sealed and in mint investment-grade condition. Rare kit dated 1975 from the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey." Kit features Pan Am decals, clear windows and landing lights and a removable rear section showing the detailed reactor.

Aurora Martin B-26 Marauder, 1/46, 371-259

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$225

Very rare first issue from the early 1950s. When Aurora moved to the West Hempstead plant, they planned a series of very large scale bombers. All kits released up to this time had been small. Aurora's instincts were correct, and the B-26, B-25 and B-29 were a big sales success. This box art was done by Jim Cox and was only used for about one year, making it very rare. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with the original tissue paper, all parts, large clear stand, instructions and decals.

Aurora Cutty Sark Clipper Ship, 1/260, 432-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$39

Excellent builder kit. Nicely molded, smaller scale full-hull kit. Kit features molded rat lines, detailed deck and fittings, display stand and rigging instructions. Molded in green, wood tan and black. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts including flag sheet and instructions. NOTE: the smallest yard has 1/3 of the tip broken off and that tip is missing.

Aurora Avro CF-100 Canuck - All-Weather Fighter, 1/67, 137-175

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM+

$115

Still factory sealed and in investment-grade "Sealed Near Mint+' condition. 1964 issue with 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the oval sunburst. Decals are for 18244, a Mk.4A and an armament evaluation aircraft at CFB Cold Lake, AB, 1954-62.

Aurora U-156 German Type IXC U-Boat, 1/209, 725-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$75

1972 Big A logo issue. Features full hull, display stand, detailed conning tower and deck, periscopes, 20mm and 37mm guns, 105mm main deck gun, bow net cutter, full diving planes and propeller detail and decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. U-156 was depth-charged and sunk, March 8, 1943, by a PBY from VP-53, operating out of Trinidad.

Aurora Aero Commander 680, 1/81, 285

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$165

Aurora of Canada issue dated 1964. Still the only plastic kit of this venerable corporate workhorse. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Aero Commander was a state-of-the-art twin engine light transport from the early 1960s. It was built by Aero Design and Engineering Co. of Bethany, Oklahoma. It was the first twin engine aircraft to be used by the President of the United States and served in this capacity in the early 1960s. This high performance 5 to 7 place was popular with business travelers and had a range of 1,050 miles and a ceiling of 22,000 feet. The Aero Commander led to the Jet Commander, which became the IAI 1121 through 1124 Westwind business jets. Aero Commanders can still be seen at some airports in excellent condition, but many are neglected as newer aircraft are in favor.

Aurora Sopwith Camel - Capt. Roy Brown or Major William Barker, 1/48, 751

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

$34

Still factory sealed. 1976 issue with revised molds. Much better kit than previous releases. Features full rigging instructions, new easier wing assembly technique, pilot figure and decals for the two aircraft listed in the title.

Aurora Convair VR XFY-1 Pogo, 1/48, 60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$155

1955 hardbox design. Please note the early Aurora rectangular logo, which was used from about 1953 to 1955. However, the factory has blacked out all the price extensions, so this one may be from around 1957/58. Rare, large scale model features working counter-rotating props and is molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Bristol F2B Brisfit - (F.2B), 1/48, 113-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$69

1957 first issue. Dramatic Jo Kotula artwork. The kit inside is mint and never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora SNJ Trainer, 1/48, 80-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$55

Very likely the 3rd issue of this kit because the boxtop oval logo does not have the 'Famous Fighters' in the border, making this the 1963+ issue. This was a good kit for the time, featuring 'good' cockpit detail, pilot and student figures, rotating prop and US Navy decals. Molded in yellow and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Scotch Lad, 1/8, 419-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$75

Rare kit dated 1957. Part of the 'Guys and Gals Of All Nations,' these very well detailed models simply did not sell well. Aurora quickly dropped them from the line, which made them instant collector's items. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions.
