AMT-Frog Blackburn Shark Torpedo Bomber - Fleet Air Arm/Canadian/Portugal, 1/72, A605-80

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Rare short-lived AMT marketing promo to sell Frog kits in the USA. This model was one of Frog's best efforts for a 1/72 biplane - it is very well detailed. The very sturdy Shark was the final biplane torpedo bomber for the FAA, with 238 delivered after production began in May of 1935. Features decals for three aircraft- British Fleet Air Arm, Portuguese Navy (6 were delivered) and one of the 20 Shark license built by Boeing for Canada. Kit features movable control surfaces, prop, wheels, optional floats or wheeled version and torpedo and bomb loads. With color painting guide. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals have bug damaged. The damage is about 2% of the sheet (98% of the transfers are intact).

The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals have bug damage. The actual transfers are 98% intact; the majority of the damage is to the backing paper which apparently tastes much better than the varnish covering the transfers!

Monogram Boeing 727 TWA (ex-Aurora), 1/96, 5414

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Still factory sealed. This is the only model of the 'short' 727-100 near 1/100 scale and is an excellent kit due to Monogram's extensive mold rework. 1978 issue after Monogram bought Aurora's molds. Monogram only reissued the best and most commercially viable models. In this case, they saw the molds could be improved, and the result is a much better and accurate kit, the best 'short' body 727 available in near 1/100 scale. Monogram added a network of very fine raised panel lines to the fuselage (the original had no panel lines), filled the deep e-doors over the wings and made them fine raised also, added wing fences and fine raised panel lines to the wings, added flap hinges to the wing undersides and added fine raised panel lines to the horizontal stabilizers. Monogram was evidently proud of the improvement, and even shows them on the assembly drawings. With full landing gear. Contains excellent TWA full stripes and window decals.

Sold

Rare kit from 1959. Features retractable landing gear, opening canopy and missiles that actually launch from the central pod. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Adams was founded by Steve Adams and released plastic assembly kits in the late 1950s. The company was innovative and the general quality of most kits was very high for the time- so much that builders (not just collectors) still seek the kits today. Adams is best known today for a series of military vehicles and missiles, although they also released an aircraft (Draken), helicopter (YH-41), balloon (La Coquette) and ship (SS Savannah). Some of these appeared in gift sets as well. The Adams smaller scale (1/40) Atomic Cannon, Hawk Missile Battery, Honest John, Vanguard (1/80) and Thor (1/87)missiles and other kits are still sought after today. Combinations of these kits were issued in gift sets, which are very desirable collector's items today. In the late 1950s, Adams entered into a joint venture with Revell, and several of the military kits were released under the Revell label, such as the Jeep among others. Around 1960 there was a disagreement between Adams and Revell, and the agreement was terminated. Sometime after this, Adams quit the plastic model business, and Life-Like purchased most of the Adams molds.
