NOTE: the stand base has a side broken out in two pieces; all pieces are present so it can be repaired. One stand arm has the top broken off; both parts are present so it can be repaired. Very rare; this the only 1/350 scale model ever made of this ship. Yankee Modelworks 1/350 were advertised as the World's Finest 1/350 Ship Kits, and that was no idle boast. All resin parts are cast from de-aired molds in a pressure chamber, ensuring that every detail is sharp and there are zero to few air bubbles. Careful design of the molds also nearly eliminated resin flash. The cast metal fine details are stunning and it can be built full hull or waterline. The large and extensive set of two brass photoetched frets are the equivalent of a modern 'Super Detail' PE set. This model can be built waterline or full hull. Never started. Very Rare. Huge kit is over four feet long and highly detailed with many hundreds of parts. Motorized for remote control operation in water with realistic drive on all four propellers. Features all required hardware and wiring for motorizing, a beautiful all-metal gear box, metal motor mount, battery boxes, moving main turrets and gun director, individual AA guns, working spotlights and more. The kit has never been started. All of the small hardware parts are still factory sealed also. Almost all plastic parts are still factory sealed; only one bag is open (the large stack parts) and it has been inventoried complete. The hull, deck and center superstructure were never sealed and they are in mint condition and complete. Includes parts layout, decals and full instruction book. Please note that Nichimio did not provide the electric motors or RC equipment with this kit. Recommended motor is an RS-540 for drive and RE-26 for the turrets and director. This is a very large kit and shipping with in the USA will not be inexpensive. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

1952 first issue in the 'Series One' yellow box. Molded in gloss black. This is from the issues produced by Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo on the side. These issues feature the same 5 car artwork on every box; the only way to identify the contents was an ink-stamped name on the box ends. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts present and includes instructions. These kits have a fascinating history. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream and never made the top 10 list of boys activities. Spurred on by the nation-wide aviation craze in the 1920s, many became modelers and built flying or static wooden models of airplanes, ships, trains, automotive and other subjects. Basic kits existed, but many of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s when the Gowland & Gowland/Revell Highway Pioneers became the sales sensation of the year. Demand was so great that the factories could not keep up and almost overnight 'model building' was mainstream. The phenomenon of the 'Highway Pioneers' kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles fits the bill: they could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real cars. The success of the Highway Pioneers lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the late 1950s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys...and many adult males too!
