The B-32 was the competitor to the B-29 in the US War Department January 1940 very long range bomber requirement. The B-29 won the competition, but the B-32 was produced as a back up plan. The aircraft was plagued with teething problems and Consolidated was kept busy trying to solve them. The program was almost canceled more than once. Finally, three B-32s arrived in the Pacific Theater for combat testing in May of 1945 and flew the first combat mission from the Philippines on 29th of May. As more aircraft arrived in the Pacific most of the problems were eliminated and the B-32 was proven to be a tough, stable performer with excellent handling. Production was canceled at the end of the war.

BMJR Models Miss America 1/2 - 48 Inch Wingspan, B-326

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

Sold

Still factory sealed and retails new for $104. An excellent kit featuring traditional stick-and-tissue construction, laser cut wood parts, hardware, full size plans and instructions. The Miss America was originally designed by Fran Zaic in 1935 as a gas powered Free Flight model with an 84" wing span and later became a kit released by Scientific. In 1959 Joe Wagner and John Pond were discussing a new event for SAM competition: scaled down versions of 'Antique' gas models of the 1930's, to be powered with Cox .020 engines. From this, the 020 Replica event was spawned. For this event Joe designed the 1/2 size Miss America. The BMJR Miss America 1/2 has a wing loading of just over 8oz per ft. making it legal for SAM Texaco. The Miss America 1/2 may be powered with Texaco .049 or electric. With a 42 inch wingspan, she is perfect for the Texaco Speed 400 event. This design was later published in the 1961 Model Airplane News with electric power and R/C in an article by Bill Winter. The BMJR kit was developed from an original hand drawn plan from 1959 provide by Joe with permission to develop this kit. This model is true to the original with some subtle changes to the rudder, elevator, and structure for RC control and a simplified landing gear mounting. Flying weight of this model is 13.5 oz. with a 238 sq. inch wing area.

It is not known if any production variants (A-4) of this aircraft were ever built. The A-1a/U3 was later fitted with FuG 218 radar equipment for night fighting and was rename V056. This aircraft was flown by Oberst Hajo Herrmann from Jagddivision 20, who reported excellent results. This lead to the development of the Me-262B-1A two seating being equipped for night fighting. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.
