Execuform Convair XC-99 - Model 37 USAF Transport Conversion Kit - Bagged, 1/72

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

This incredible, one-of-a-kind huge transport was many years ahead of all the giant jumbo jets. What is even more amazing is that the only one built had an incredibly active USAF service record. Once outdated by the C-5A, the lone XC-99 sat neglected but basically intact for decades; it is now being restored. This is a conversion kit for the Monogram 1/72 B-36 (or the Revell re-release of the same kit, RB-36). It consists of two very large vac fuselage sections and a smaller vac sheet with the rudder and the other required conversion parts. Includes detailed, full size plans. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts. Please note that vacuform models require special modeling skills. They are not recommended for beginners. Large vacs, like this one are especially tricky and I do not recommend this build this unless you specifically have experience with large vac models.

California Model Co SE-5A Scout - 19.75 Inch Wingspan Balsa Flying Aircraft, 1/16

Features covering material, quality balsa printwood and strip wood, blocks as needed and beautifully drawn full size plans. The model has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and plans. Made by California Model Company out of Long Beach, CA USA. From the box there was at least a Spad, SE-5, Fokker DVII, Niuport and a Sopwith Camel for rubber power as well as the 'Spacer A-B' & 'Spacer 1/2A' and the indoor Featherette. We know they also issued some ex-Suydam railroad kits as well. From Bill Baker Jr - "California Model Company originated in Long Beach, Calif in the late 1940's or early 1950's. My grandparents, William (Bill) Loyal Baker and his wife, Ruth (Tripp) Baker were the founders. The company started out as primarily balsa based model aircraft but later, in the late 50's or early 60's, branched into the model RR craft kits and Cub Scout craft kits. They even had a balsa speed boat kit powered by a model airplane gas engine adapted to fit. When they retired, around 1968 or 1969, they sold the business and the "shop" in North Long Beach they built to house their business. I have many fond memories as a young child "working" with them in the shop, assembling kits. I have a few unbuilt kits today!"

Aurora Cessna 310, 1/62, 283-39

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare issue dated 1963 and from quality ex-Comet molds. Neatly molded early 310 featuring all recessed panel lines, clear side and front windows, tip tanks, rotating propellers, display stand and full pinstripe decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Aurora had started a line of inexpensive 29 cent kits in about 1957. The line was a success, and it was expanded. The line grew again when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, as most of Comet's line was very small scale kits, many of them civil aircraft like this one. It appears that Aurora was encouraged by the sale of the ex-Comet civil aircraft, as it expanded the line with it's own molds in the early 1960s.
