Revell Focke-Wulf FW-200 Syndicato Condor Limitada - Brazilian 1940 / BOAC England May 1940, 1/72, 4216

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG++

Sold

Still factory sealed. From 1992. A well detailed kit from new molds of the famous Condor in its original civil transport roll. Features detailed cockpit, clear side windows, detailed gear wells, optional position landing gear and more. The highlight of this kit is the large and colorful decals for the two civilian airliners. This exact aircraft that is modeled had a very interesting history. In July of 1939, the Brazilian Airline 'Syndicato Condor Limitada' took delivery of this aircraft and it flew on the Rio de Janeiro-Bunenos Aires and Rio-Porto Algre runs. The Condor gave excellent service until 1947 when the lack of spares and damage from a ground accident finally forced their retirement. The BOAC ship was originally operated by Denmark and was confiscated by England at the outbreak of war.

Fred Megow was a famous pioneer in the model aircraft field from the late 1920s till 1949. His product lines of semi-prefabricated, solid and stick and tissue kits won him national and extensive world wide distribution - possibly the first modern model manufacture to achieve this. His fascinating story involves trying novel and untested marketing ideas in the Great Depression, followed my explosive world-wide growth. Mr. Megow was a true pioneer in the early days of modeling and a leader in the low price field so that every boy could afford a kit during those difficult times. Megow also produced scale operating train and trackside kits, ship models (large and small) and automotive subjects. Megow's catalogs claim that they were pioneers in HO scale, and there is documentation to support this fact. Megow's early HO train kits served not only to promote this now-popular scale nationally, but were among the very first train kits.
