Sterling SE-5 Scout with 'Auto-Magic' Pilot - 20 inch Wingspan For Control Line or Free Flight, M-5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Mid 1960s stick-and-tissue flying model with special 'Auto Magic Pilot' feature and 20 inch wingspan. Can be built for scale static display, rubber free-flight or gas powered control line or Auto Magic Pilot, where the aircraft flies by itself on a tether and maintains level flight. Features full size plans, many die-cut balsa wood parts, main spars, stringers, plastic nose radiator and exhaust manifolds, covering tissue, completely formed and painted wooden wheels, die-cut plywood parts, clear material for windscreen and steel pre-shaped landing gear struts. Full size plans are included that also include highly detailed text instructions. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing decals and two sheets of parts have been very neatly adult punched out. Inventoried with all wood, metal and plastic parts present including plans/instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and were much nicer than most other kits of this type.

Aurora Rockwell 1121 Jet Commander, 1/72, 85-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Factory sealed. 1968 issue hardbox. Nicely detailed kit features recessed panel lines, full interior with rear bulkhead, couch, chairs and console, cockpit with chairs, instrument panel, control yokes, forward bulkhead and clear windows. Includes optional position landing gear and colorful decals. The Jet Commander was the jet powered follow-on to the famous Aero Commander twin private aircraft. But shortly after 1121 delivery began in 1965, Rockwell bought Aero Commander. The 1121 was competition for the Rockwell Sabreliner business jet in the same class, so Rockwell sold the Jet commander to IAI. Initial releases under IAI were called the 1123. Improvements to the 1123 design lead to the IAI 1124 Westwind powered by 731 fan engines. Legend has it that these molds were lost and/or destroyed in a train wreck. Monogram bought Aurora's molds and was transporting them to the Monogram factory when the accident happened.

SMP 1958 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop Promo, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

Original factory promo in factory two tone. I listed it as SMP but that is simply a guess as there are no markings. It has a plastic chassis which is unusual. The colors and gloss are very good, as is the factory paint on the roof and for the two-tone interior. This is a celluloid body and while it is straight from an overhead view, you can see some warping when you look from the side. It is still very displayable; the right side has almost no warp but it is visible on the left side if you look for it. The windshields are 'excellent.' The front and rear chrome bumpers are 'very good' as are the wheels and whitewall. The wheels show no signs of ever being played with. The previous owner had the fine brightwork trim painted silver and the job was professionally done; it could pass for factory finished. There was a friction motor in the chassis but it was removed; the original axles and even the drive gear were retained however.
