Heller DC-8 Super Jet UTA - Union de Transports Aeriens, 1/125, L705

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Very rare. From the early to mid 1960s. Early Heller kits had some wonderful engineering (such as in the Etendard IV) and this model is no exception. It has retractable landing gear and closing gear doors, and without painting it will look very much like the airplane on the box top. Molded in white, silver/gray, clear and includes black rubber tires. The fuselage lower section is molded in silver along with the wings and engines, and the upper fuselage is in white. There is one large sheet of very colorful TAI decals including complete side pinstripes and tail design in 'excellent' condition and still protected by the factory wax paper. The landing gear and gear doors also function on this model. It even includes a factory tube of glue in a yellow capsule. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

The few parts never factory sealed have been inventoried and the helicopter parts are present but NOTE: missing the display stand. With decals and instructions. Lincoln was based in Hong Kong. Plastic kits were not the primary business, but they established quite a line of them before discontinuing production in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Many molds moved to Kader, also in Hong Kong, who reissued the line. Many molds eventually found their way to the USA either through ATP (who purchased the excess kit stock when Kader sold out) or IM.

Lawrence W Brown Aircraft Co Miss Los Angeles Racing Aircraft - 19.25 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft, 1/12, 1

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Very, very rare from 1934. There is no public record of this model ever trading hands and no one to date has heard of it. Lawrence Brown founded the Brown Aircraft Factory in California in 1931. In 1934 Brown built his B-2 racer, dubbed Miss Los Angeles. This was a very successful racer. Miss Los Angeles was introduced at the 1934 National Air races. The ship was painted in an attention-grabbing gloss scarlet paint with lettering and accents in gold leaf. Pilot Roy Minor flew her in the first three-race Greve Trophy competition and Miss Los Angeles, won first place in speed with 213.257 mph. She next raced for the Thompson Trophy as the only new competitor that year, winning second place. Mr. Brown was justifiably proud of his creation, so he founded the "Model Plane Division" of Brown Aircraft Company with one kit - you guessed it - Miss Los Angeles. That is this kit. NOTE: the kit is not complete. It does contain many important and unique parts, so please read carefully. What it does include are the following original parts: four pages of detailed, typed instructions, excellent full-size plans which show full size patterns for all fuselage bulkheads, full size patterns for the fuselage keel and sides, full size wheel pants, struts and much more, two sheets of printwood (printed in red) including wheel pants (bread and butter style construction), wing ribs and numerous other parts (one sheet of printwood is missing), stripwood and spars, stock wire and the original factory accessory envelope containing a glass vial with a cork stopper of "Brown Special Rubber Lubricant" (still good!), rigging thread, a type of silver/argent powder for realistic finishing, fully formed wheels, metal hardware and a glass vial of "Brown Special Lacquer Dope." Anything that is not listed here is missing.

J&R Models Playboy Senior (Reproduction) - 36 inch Wingspan Wooden Flying Aircraft - (ex Cal Aero-Model), L-4

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Smaller scale repro kit of the famous Cleveland Playboy Senior. For .020 power free flight or RC. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started. Complete with all parts and plans. This model was designed to climb very rapidly to altitude then go 'Sniffing For Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and powered models (most all driven by Brown engines) took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under high power and torque, but then glide sufficiently - all in a stable fashion and without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.
