Revell Fairey Rotodyne Cutaway Model with Full Interior, 1/78, H185-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Very rare. Unique and highly detailed model in near 1/72 scale of this vertical take-off and landing transport airplane. The first prototype flew in November 1957 and appeared at the Farnborough Air Show three years later. The Rotodyne could carry 60 civil passengers 0r 70 fully equipped troops as well as cargo. Cruising speed was 175 kts and maximum range was 610 nm. Kit features cut away design - a large fuselage panel can be removed to show off the complete interior with passenger seats, passengers, pilots, stewardess, baggage compartment (complete down to the suitcases), bathroom with toilet & sink and cargo compartment including boxes, tire, carpet and barrel. Another panel comes off at the support for the rotor to reveal internal aircraft structure and the rotor power transmission. Also includes complete cockpit, working boarding door and stairs, working rear clam-shell cargo doors, operating rudder and elevators and rotating wheels, props and main rotor. Revell SMS Seeadler (Sea Eagle) German WWI Commerce Raider, 1/232, H382-298

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare 1960 hardbox first issue with great John Steel artwork. This ship is a fascinating subject -the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. Revell includes a full page history of the ship, a copy of a letter from Count Luckner and a map showing the voyage and ships sunk. Well detailed for that time. Full hull model is molded in gray, brown and black and includes rigging thread and full rigging instructions. It has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and includes flags and instructions. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

1970 issue from original Pyro molds. Very large and well detailed kit for that time. The race between the Lee and Natchez is considered a classic tale of The River. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.
