Contrail Vickers Armstrong Warwick, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Very rare and the only model ever made of this aircraft. Designed for Air Ministry specification B.1/35 for a two-engined heavy bomber, the Warwick was to replace the Wellington and used the same sturdy geodetic 'basket weave' construction. However, the prototype orders were canceled in 1936 to concentrate on four-engine bombers. Vickers completed two of the prototypes anyway. RAF Coastal Command liked what it saw and eventually 712 Warwicks were produced and used for transports, air-sea rescue, meteorological recon and anti-submarine work. One saw use as a BOAC Transport and the aircraft was used by the Air Forces of Poland and South Africa. The model features well molded vac parts with numerous injection molded details. Alternate parts are included to build prototype CIII, BI., ASR I, ASR (B Mod), GR V and GR II. With full decals for many aircraft including the BOAC version and large painting/markings guide sheet with many photos of actual aircraft. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the larger parts were never factory sealed and have been inventoried complete. Please note that vacuform models are only recommended for those experienced with their constructions. Certain skills, including scratchbuilding, are required. They are not for beginners.

AV USK Convair B-32 Dominator, 1/72, AU1017

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Features very nicely done main vac parts with all recessed panel lines, numerous injection molded details, photoetched brass parts, clear vacuform parts (in excellent condition and not yellowed) and full decals for two aircraft including colorful nose art. With detailed assembly plans. The kit has never been started. The injection molded, clear canopies and brass parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The larger parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and plans/instructions. The B-32 was the competitor to the B-29 in the US War Department January 1940 very long range bomber requirement. The B-29 won the competition, but the B-32 was produced as a back up plan. The aircraft was plagued with teething problems and Consolidated was kept busy trying to solve them. The program was almost canceled more than once. Finally, three B-32s arrived in the Pacific Theater for combat testing in May of 1945 and flew the first combat mission from the Philippines on 29th of May. As more aircraft arrived in the Pacific most of the problems were eliminated and the B-32 was proven to be a tough, stable performer with excellent handling. Production was canceled at the end of the war.

Execuform Curtiss XP-46 - Model 86-CP-39-L3 - Bagged, 1/72

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed

Sold

Still factory sealed and a model of a rare subject and features vacuform main airframe parts, cast metal wheels and hubs and several injection molded parts including the propeller, spinner, main gear struts and more. This is the only kit ever made of this aircraft. The Curtiss XP-46 was a 1940s United States prototype fighter aircraft. It was a development of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation in an effort to introduce the best features found in European fighter aircraft in 1939 into a fighter aircraft which could succeed the Curtiss P-40, then in production. However, during construction of the prototypes, the US Army Air Corps decided to upgrade the existing P-40 with a new engine and other features, which the British purchased as the Kittyhawk. By the time the XP-46 prototypes were completed, the now-current P-40D had higher performance than these new aircraft. Since there was no clear improvement, the project was canceled. A certain degree of modeling skill is required to build vacuform models. They are not recommended for beginners.

Execuform Convair XC-99 - Model 37 USAF Transport Conversion Kit - Bagged, 1/72

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed

Sold

This incredible, one-of-a-kind huge transport was many years ahead of all the giant jumbo jets. What is even more amazing is that the only one built had an incredibly active USAF service record. Once outdated by the C-5A, the lone XC-99 sat neglected but basically intact for decades; it is now being restored. This is a conversion kit for the Monogram 1/72 B-36 (or the Revell re-release of the same kit, RB-36). It consists of two very large vac fuselage sections and a smaller vac sheet with the rudder and the other required conversion parts. Includes detailed, full size plans. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts. Please note that vacuform models require special modeling skills. They are not recommended for beginners. Large vacs, like this one are especially tricky and I do not recommend this build this unless you specifically have experience with large vac models.
