Sold

Very highly detailed resin model with excellent airframe and clear parts, detailed cockpit and more. Includes decals for civil Pan Am and military versions. Never started. The parts are still in the internally sealed factory bags. Includes decals and instructions. In early 1930s, Pan Am requested for a flying boat with capability that could fly across the ocean. Martin's bid of Model-130 was successful. In 1934, three M-130 were built as Martin Ocean Transports, but to the public thay were all referred as the China Clipper. On November 1935, the China Clipper flew the first trans-Pacific airmail route. Their range and capacity made them prime candidates to fulfill the over ocean hauling needs of the military during World War II. Beginning in 1942, the two remaining planes were pressed into transport roles for the United States Navy, but not given a Naval designation and was maintained their "civilian" status so that they could continue to fly into neutral ports with secret missions for Allied spies and technicians. The most special mission was to fly shipments out of Africa with the uranium needed for the highly top secret Atomic bomb development, the "Manhattan Project". The Philippine Clipper crashed in San Francisco in 1943, and the final China Clipper broke up and sank in Trinidad Tobago in 1945.

Although many countries attempted to develop submarine float planes, only one country that succeeded in making them operational. The Japanese E14Y met all requirements for quick assembly/disassembly, storage in a drum on the submarine deck, taking the stress of catapult launch & open sea landings and yet still having enough speed and weapons load to be a viable combat aircraft. The first prototype was flown in 1939 and was followed by 125 production aircraft. The E14Y was first used operationally (in war) for post-strike evaluation of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Based on I-7 thru I-11 and I-15-I-35, the Glen was used for anti-shipping flights as well as reconnaissance flights over Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Madagascar, the Aleutians and the US Mainland. It is most famous for carrying out the only bombing of the US Mainland on September 9th and 29th, 1942. As time went on and radar became widespread, the E14Y was removed from front line use. From that point on, it was used extensively on the home front at a patrol bomber.

Monogram Curtiss P-36A Hawk - (Model 75) - White Box Issue, 1/72, 6790-0080

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

1979 issue and a very finely molded and detailed kit in the Monogram tradition. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.
