Revell Redstone Booster with Mercury Capsule, 1/105, H1832-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Original and only issue of this rare kit in a hardbox dated 1961. This model was hurried into production after Shepard's First US Manned Space flight on May 5, 1961. Revell took the original Redstone kit, modified it to match Shepard's craft by adding the Mercury capsule, modified the decal sheet and created the 'Newsprint' box you see. Contains Redstone Booster, Mercury Capsule with re-entry and emergency escape rockets, astronaut and interior seat, Launch Pad/Stand, Testing Unit and 3 man ground crew. Also has special booklet "Into Space". NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality subassembly as follows to four pieces total: rocket halves assembled; two pieces of launcher assembled. There is no other assembly and zero painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals have light age foxing to the backing paper only; the actual transfers are free of damage.

AV Models Kokusai Ki-59 - Theresa, 1/72, 72760

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Rare and the only kit of this subject. Beautifully molded in high-definition resin, many fine cast metal details, film instrument panels, clear canopy, cockpit detail and more. Includes two sheets of decals and painting guide. Never started. Most parts are still factory sealed. The few that are not have been inventoried complete with decals and instructions included. The Kokusai Ki-59 (Isshiki-yusoki) was an early 1940s light transport monoplane built by Nippon Kokusai Koku Kogyo K.K for the Imperial Japanese Army as a development of the Teradako-ken TK-3 which had first flown in 1938. In 1939, the Imperial Japanese Army called for the design of a prototype eight-to-ten passenger light transport monoplane to meet its urgent requirement for a light transport and liaison aircraft, and instructed Nippon Koku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha to develop the design as the Ki-59. The Ki-59 was a high-wing cantilever monoplane with a fixed tail wheel landing gear and conventional single vertical tail surfaces. It was ordered into production in 1941 with the designation "Army Type 1 Transport", and a total of 59 units were produced. After the start of World War II, the aircraft was given the Allied code name "Theresa". Despite the more powerful engines and modifications sponsored by the Japanese Army, the Ki-59 remained a poor performer and saw little service before being replaced by the more capable Tachikawa Ki-54. Near the end of 1941 one Ki-59 was modified into a glider with the removal of the engines and the landing gear replaced by under-fuselage skids. It was designated the Ku-8-I or "Army Experimental Glider". This was further developed as the Ku-8-II or "Army Type 4 Large Transport Glider" which became the only operationally-used Japanese assault glider. The Ku-8 was code named 'Gander' by the Allies.

Charmore Mig-15 - Trail Blazers of Transportation, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Very rare kit for the advanced collector. Charmore was located at 126 Market Street in Paterson, New Jersey. They issued a small line of kits in the early 1950s, at the dawn of US plastic kit production. All boxes have the same art - the name of the kit stamped on a side white panel. Inside, the kit has never been started. The contents are mint and complete in the original Charmore paper sacks. The main parts are the correct gloss silver (just one of the several colors that Charmore used), while the canopy, stand and stand arm are clear. Includes decals and instructions. From toy historians, we know that Charmore was created by the toy giant Louis Marx Company after 1945. Evidently Marx hope to obtain retail buyer-level advantages and tax breaks from the arrangement. The company was named for Louis' brother's (David) wife, Charlene. It has been shown that Charmore and Marx mixed molds and products when it came to toys; however, it seems that the model lines were separate. Please email me if you have more details.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

1960s Type Three logo issue with great box art. Zeros press in close to score hits on a formation of TBFs as Avenger gunners score back. This is unusual as this same artwork was used later on both Craftmaster TBF issues; usually the Craftmaster artwork was original to the series and did not borrow from the T3s. Well molded kit for that time featuring rotating turret with elevating gun, three crew members, moving ailerons, all correct clear windows, optional position landing gear, underwing rockets and decals for both aircraft. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Mach Dzik P52 Polish Navy (U-Class) Submarine, 1/400, 02

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

Sold

Still factory sealed but the seal has drawn the box top concave. Dzik ("Wild Boar") and her sister Solol ("Falcon" were the first submarines delivered to the Polish Navy once WWII began. By February of 1941 Sokol was patrolling the Bay of Biscay and Dzik followed shortly after delivery on October 11, 1942. Both of these ships achieved significant success in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, where they destroyed several enemy ships. Both subs outlasted the war and were returned to England. Dzik was then lent to the Danish Navy in 1946. Her active service ended in 1957 and she was broken up in 1958. Very nicely molded and detailed but certainly not a 'state of the art' Tamiya style kit. Features full hull with propellers and rudder, display stand, color paint guide on the back of the box with rigging diagram and full decals with flags.

Despite much anticipatory rejoicing by Army aviators, this interesting project was abandoned when most fixed wing types were transferred to the USAF.
