In the 1930s and 1940s, most modelers built the flying stick and tissue type models with rubber, co2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited offerings. Many manufacturers issued blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits. A few manufacturers made expensive super detailed kits with metal accessories (like Dyna-Products). Comet came in the middle and struck a nice balance of detail and cost. The F6F features profile cut parts, color decals, finished wheels, printwood, templates, wood stock and a very large and detailed sheet of drawings including detailed construction steps. William Barker's final combat mission was when he pitted his aircraft alone against 60 German aircraft. Barker was seriously injured, but destroyed 4 aircraft and damaged two others. 1973 'White Box' issue in excellent condition. Possibly the best kit ever injection molded of the first aircraft to sustain powered, controlled flight. Excellent detail and includes rigging material and instructions. Kit also features figures of Orville and Wilbur Wright, monorail launching track and carrier dolly and historical accessories-"C" clamp, bench, can, spade and starting battery that were all present at the first flight. Never started. Missing rigging thread. Otherwise inventoried complete with all other parts and instructions present.

Rare. The IK-2 is the father of the fantastic IK-3. Both are of Yugoslav design and manufacture. IK2 and 3 saw service in WWII; IK-2 attacked German column and IK-3 defended Beograd from the air. IK-2 was a superior design in it's day. In mock dogfights in 1936, it out performed the Hawker Fury in a respects. The aircraft was all metal and heavily armed with two 20 mm cannon and two 7.92 mm machine guns. Still factory bag sealed. Finely molded in grey and clear with full instructions. Guano kits were designed and molded by Wesley Moore in Renton, Washington. From what I can tell, most if not all were marketed directly through him.
