This amazing car created a sensation at the Indy 500 in 1967. Powered by an aircraft Turbine Engine, it completely overwhelmed all competitive cars that used piston engines. All spectators believed it was a sure winner as it completely dominated the field. The STP Turbine led the entire race with ease, but with the checkered flag and victory only three laps away, the engine suddenly stopped and the car slid silently to a stop...defeated by an bearing in the gearbox. Large and very highly detailed kit. Includes chrome plated, black, red and clear plastic parts with metal parts and rubber tires. Features RE-14 motor and metal gearbox. Full chassis detail with operating U joints, operating independant suspension and working steering. Never started. All parts still factory sealed.

The Harriett Lane was built in 1858 and named for President Buchanan's niece. The cutter was 180 feet long with a 30 foot beam and displacement was 670 tons. Armament consisted of 3-9 inch Dahlgrens and 1-30 lb Parrot Rifle. She was built at a time when steam was not fool-proof, so she is rigged for full sails. Harriett Lane served as the Presidential Yacht, the fired the first shot of the Civil War. She chased down blockade runners until Januray 1, 1863 when she was attacked by five Confederate Gun Boats and boarded. She was captured and renamed the Lavinia and was used as a blockade runner. Near the end of the war she caught fire at sea, and put into Havana Harbor. Federal forces took her again and rebuilt her in 1869 as the bark 'Elliot Ritchie'. She was abandoned at sea in 1884. Very rare and large kit of the 'Flugzeugtrager A' or 'Aircraft Carrier A". This German WWII carrier has a fasinating history. She was laid down in 1936, and launched in 1938. Raeder pressed for proper fitting out and completion, but ran into continuous and powerful resistance from Goring, who did not like the idea of the Navy having a mobile air-arm. Goring's interference proved conclusive and the ship, which was 95% complete, never entered service. The air wing was to be navalized Bf-109 Fighters and Ju-87 Dive Bombers. Work stopped completely in 1943 as Hitler became frustrated with the Navy. On April 25, 1945, the Germans scuttled the nearly complete carrier at Stettin just before the Russians arrived. What happened next has been unclear for years. It was generally assumed that the ship struck a mine and sank after the Soviets raised her. With the opening of Russian records, this story can be completed. In 1946 the Soviets raised the ship and towed it to Leningrad. There, they hoped to rebuild it and use it for it's intended purpose. This proved to be impossible at the time, so in 1947 it was towed to sea and used as an target. In 2006, the wreak was actually located. Kit has never been started and is complete. Primarily wood construction. Includes large plans and English Instruction book. For Radio Control. Box is missing one side panel and is only fair.

This model is not only rare but is considered the most complicated operating model ever produced. The large 24.75 inch long model sails from the power of a large electric motor driving twin geared propellers. It changes direction, dives, surfaces, and a Regulus II missile comes out of the hanger and launches...all automatically. The engineering on this kit is fantastic as was a major break-through in it's day (about 1960). The high price and difficulties that youngsters had with assembly/operation made for a short production run. The model worked, and did work well, but was certainly not a toy for inexperienced model builders. This kit is unique in that it did not have the common 'Seen on TV Maverick' sticker on the box top. The box top is very good. Inside, the kit is absolutely mint. All plastic parts except the main hull 1/2s are still sealed in the factory bags and the bags are still factory stapled to the box. The hull 1/2s were never sealed. The motor bag has been opened, so I inventoried the contents and it is complete. The blue display cardboard is all present and good. Instructions are near mint with minor yellowing. It would be hard to find a better example of this rare kit. (The white plastic parts bag had a small slit in it which I sealed with tape. I did a 100% inventory through the bag and all parts are in mint condition and present.)
