Aurora Convair 990 Jet Mainliner, 1/107, 397-198

Very rare kit from 1962. First and only issue. This is the largest injection molded kit ever made of the very fast Convair 990 airliner. The box has excellent color and sheen with four solid corners and no repairs. There are no price tags or price tag marks. The box would grade higher than 'VG+', but there is a tape tear from the factory tape on one long side when the box was originally opened. The model is molded in the correct white and clear plastic, with the large clear triangle display stand and full color United decals. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both flat with slight yellowing being the only flaw. NOTE: shipping insurance is required with this kit. The Convair 990 and its near sister 880 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. The commerical failure of the 990 caused Aurora to pull these molds from production shortly after the introduction of the kit. The 990 was a larger and faster (Mach .91) airliner than the 880, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two for decades after the last one was phased out of commercial service. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs.

Very rare. This Revell Columbia kit was manufactured by 'Modelos Plasticos' in Medillin and distributed by Carvajal & CIA. Columbia. The 727 is molded in a metal flake silver. The kit includes two sheets of extensive Avianca decals. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. NOTE: the tiny frames for the cockpit windows were either not molded or were broken out - they are not present.

Classic large-scale 'Action Model' in it's 1966 issue in the famous "Blue Box". Most likely the third issue of this kit due to the 'future' four digit number following PA77. Canopy opens and closes to show highly detailed cockpit. Tiny levers under the wings drop 2 bombs. Knob on the bottom rotates and extends/retracts main gear and tailwheel; all gear doors including tailwheel open and close automatically with the gear. Not only do these features sound great, but they work. My built kit is 30 years old and functions like new! Great detail. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

From the early 1930s. This is a very deluxe wood and metal kit from the Megow 'Super Detail' 8-8-8 Line. The scale is 1/32, which makes it ideal as a builder. The kit contains a very nice metal cowling, metal prop, an accessory bag containing wheels, etc, sandpaper, two glass bottles with white and blue paint, a sheet of very well printed blue pinstripes with wing and fuselage N numbers, sandpaper and balsa wood profile cut wings, fuselage, rudder stabilizer and more. In 1959 Revell produced this incredibly detailed 'educational' kit of a standard Nuclear Plant in cooperation with Westinghouse. The kit was never reissued. It is a fairly complicated kit with hundreds of parts and the full interior to the power plant. The parts were molded in five colors to minimize painting. It contains all the items shown on the box top within the road boundary including a display mat showing grass and roads, clear nuclear reactor vessel, separating reactor dome for full view of interior, movable gantry with operational hoist, working reactor hoist, circulating pumps, steam generator, turbine, electrical substation, high tension power lines, 10 scale figures and more. Includes the book "A New World of Atomic Power" by Dr. William E Shoupp at Westinghouse. The kit has never been started. Very carefully inventoried 100% complete with all parts including decals, clear 'fence', silver 'power lines' and instructions. NOTE: instructions and nuclear power booklet are quality laser photocopies of originals.

This kit is from quality Airfix molds and is from the MPC 'Air Combat Collection', which includes ground crew. Dates from the mid 1970s. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including ground crew, decals and instructions. It is interesting to note that this issue does not have 'Craft Master' under the MPC logo. Before this, MPC was marketing Airfix kits under the Craftmaster name in the USA. This continued for several issues and was finally discontinued -possibly with this issue.
