Pyro 1912 Packard Model 30 Touring Car, 1/32, C457-125

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Still factory sealed. 1967 Pyro 'Vintage Brass Car' issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of the kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. This Pyro car model is based on the Model 30 that was on display in the Auto Aviation Museum in Cleveland, Ohio that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. The model includes rubber tires, brass plated parts, colored injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet.'

Life-Like Cutty Sark Clipper Ship - (ex-Pyro), B249-125

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

Still factory sealed. From the early 1970s and original Pyro molds. Full hull kit measures almost 10 inches long when assembled. Full hull kit with very good molded detail including wood planking and grain and copper plates below the waterline, pre-molded ratlines, detailed deck, billowing sails and display stand. Molded wood brown and off-white. A photo of the built kit on the instructions serves as a standing rigging diagram. This is one of the 'intermediate' line of Pyro ship kits, which at the time were Pyro called '$1.00 Models'. All were roughly the same size and were a significant increase in detail from the '50 Cent Models'.

Comet USS Saratoga CV3 Aircraft Carrier - Wooden Ship Kit, J5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Dated 1945. Almost everyone has heard of the Comet flying aircraft kits that boys and men built from stick and tissue, but few know that Comet had a line of ships also. Very nicely done wooden kit that measures 12 inches long when assembled. The hull had been very neatly factory machine cut to the overhead (beam) dimensions only. Also includes two sheets of printwood, mast and gun barrel material, sandpaper, decals for the hull and flight deck and full size plans. The plans are superior to most ship plans of the day with 5 hull sections, full size top and side drawings, illustrated instructions and many detail drawings. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Revell A3J (A-5A) Vigilante 'S' Issue, 1/83, H196-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

This was the last "S" kit issued by Revell. Dated 1959. Kit features opening tandem canopies, moving control surfaces, detailed, removable jet engines and two pilots. As the last "S" kit, it incorporates a critical improvement for the time - recessed panel lines. The entire kit has recessed panel lines and rivet detail-no raised marks. It has an attention to detail that is lacking in many older Pre-S and S kits. Molded in the correct gloss light gray and clear with the "Globe" clear stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: the box displays better than the 'Good' grade but it has a 1.25 by 1 inch section of missing litho on one short side.

AGA Armstrong Whitworth Whitley Mk.V VII - ex Frog, 1/72, MKA00108

Rogers Motor Company Bofors 40mm AA Gun and Carriage, 1/16, 40

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Rare, large 1/16 scale highly pre-fabricated kit from 1945. Very high quality wood scale kit measuring 14 inches long when assembled. Features pre-cut and precarved hardwood parts, completely formed wheels, die-cut fibre detail parts, numerous other pre-shaped and factory cut parts and much more. Rogers spent a significant amount of time on the instructions, providing detailed assembly steps, a photo of the completed model, full size plans and a very large number of assembly detail drawings. The kit has never been started. The small parts are either still in factory sealed paper bags or inventoried complete. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete with full instructions with plans. Rogers was an early producer of miniature gas engines for free-flight and early radio control model kits and often had large adds for these engines in hobby magazines. The full company name on the box is listed as 'Rogers Motor Company Detroit Michigan' and the 'Scale Model Division' is listed as Tawas City, Michigan. Right at the end of WWII, Rogers made a very short journey into kit manufacturing. As you would expect from an engine manufacture, the kits were all true scale, highly prefabricated, had excellent detail and were fairly complicated. Rogers produced at least four kits - the 40MM AA Gun and Carriage (1/16 scale), Army Weasel, LST and an amazing huge scale M4 Sherman tank with over 780 parts. These kits were likely produced in that order, with the LST being released around late 1945/early 1946. I have seen several of these kits built and they make excellent displays. And thanks to kit builder and collector Fran Fierko for some new and important kit history! Fran was able to track down the son of the designer of the five Rogers kits. Mr. John Hoenle Jr. was a master model builder who received a deferment from the draft in WWII to build recognition models for the military- some of which may still be on display at Wright-patterson AFB in Ohio. Mr. Hoenle is believed to have designed one other early kit, a civilian Chris Craft cabin cruiser. It is unknown if this kit was issued or not. Mr. Hoenle left Rogers to design promo models for Jo-Han, which is famous for their 1950s line of car kits.

Joe Ott Supermarine Spitfire with Ott-O-Formers - 32 inch Wingspan Wood Flying Model

NOTE: the prop blank has been rough cut to shape and the 'lightning holes' in the fuselage Ott-O-Formers have been pressed out (normally they are factory die cut). Quality of all work is excellent. The kit has been inventory complete with all parts and plans. NOTE: plans are complete but have neat tape to the back. They are very fragile! Please note that the box displays better than the 'Fair+' grade but is missing the end flaps - hence the 'Fair+' grade.

Miniature Masterpieces Marquis de Lafayette Carriage, 1/48, K502-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Mint

This kit was found in the stock room of a long-closed hobby shop and is in factory-new condition. Rare early 1950s original issue. Molded in brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. In addition to the carriage, it includes horses, the General, his lady, driver and a display base. The model includes detailed instructions (rare for the early 1950s) and a wonderful (and long) history of this particular carriage. Never started. The parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag and includes mint instructions. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lou Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare. And from J. Boyle - The actual carriage still exists and is displayed at the Studebaker National museum in SouthBend, Indiana. It seems the Studebaker firm bought the carriage at the turn of the last century. When Studebaker quit building cars, it was donated to the City for eventual placement in a museum, along with many cars and other historichorse-drawn carriages collected by the firm.
