Rare, highly prefabricated gas engine control line or RC model from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Very close to 1/16 scale and designed for powered flight on "19 to 29" sized engines - yes, there should be decimal points in there! Revell Moon Ship (XSL-01) 'S' Issue, 1/96, H1825-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+++

$395

Rare 1957 first and only issue in almost impossible to find, investment-grade "Near Mint+++" condition. The box looks like it was just removed from the Revell shipping box with no more slight wear than you would expect from the production line. Many would argue this kit is "Mint", but I hesitate to call anything 'Mint' as you know. When sales of the dramatic XSL-01 Moon Rocket did not meet expectations, Revell molded the top stage in a different color plastic from the XSL-01, added a special 3D Moon Base Stand and boxed it as a stand-alone kit. The result was this Moon Ship with incredible box art. The box art invites you to 'Enter the Age of Space' with these action features: retractable landing ski, removable fuselage section with detailed cabin with controls and instrument panels and a crew of three astronauts. Molded in correct baby blue and clear plastic. This model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Even the factory tissue packing paper is present. The decals are perfectly flat and in 'excellent++' with slight yellowing as the only flaw. The instructions are also 'near mint' with the only flaw being slight age foxing to two small areas.

Molded in the correct glossy red plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Revell USS Norton Sound Rocket Launcher Missile Test Ship, 1/424, H331-169

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$550

Fresh from a long-closed down hobby shop. Very rare kit from 1956; the molds were altered to make the class seaplane tender, which made any reissue impossible. The box has wonderful color and gloss, four solid corners, no creases, no fading, rips or tears, no stains, no price tag or tag marks and no tape or tape marks - this box even escaped the factory tape sealing machine! There is very light general wear and moderate wear to the lower right short side for 1" by 1/16". The prototype Norton Sound was originally a seaplane tender and was converted to an ocean-going laboratory for development and testing of guided missiles and rockets. This ship was key in the Navy's move into the guided missile age. The model features working cranes, operating launching platform for the Viking missile, Terrier with launcher, Jeeps and Lark missile. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts and decals are still factory sealed in the Revell clear bag. The larger parts were never sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes flag sheet and instructions. Instructions are in 'near mint' condition with the typical age yellowing as the only flaw. Decals are still factory sealed and would grade the same as the instructions.

This is a nice model that was well detailed for that time featuring full hull (not waterline), detailed deck and superstructure, separately molded and moving main armament, Terrier missiles, launcher and directors and more. Never started. Inside, the kit is exactly as it left the factory. The smallest parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete and are still covered in the Revell 'Thick Paper Towel" packing material that was only used for a short time in the 1950s. Includes flag sheet, decals (still sealed) and instructions. The USS Boston, originally CA-69 (Baltimore Class Heavy Cruiser) was converted to the world's first Guided Missile Cruiser in 1952.
