1960s 'Fourth Logo' issue with desirable old style BEA markings. Nice 1/144 scale kit of the world's first jet airliner. Includes clear windows, full landing gear, display stand, passenger boarding stairs and BEA decals. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing one clear window strip. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions. The initial Comet Is were in operation long before the 707, which gave the British an incredible post-war lead in the expanding civil aviation market. Just as the Comet was flying high and orders were pouring in from around the world, Comets began to mysteriously fall out of the sky. Everything from lighting to terrorist bombs were blamed. For months the root cause went undiscovered. Then, in a landmark investigation that is considered the first modern post-crash autopsy, it was discovered that the stresses around a small ADF window on the top of the fuselage were causing metal fatigue failure when the fuselage was pressurized. To confirm this, a Comet I was placed in a water tank and subjected to pressurization stresses. After some time, a dramatic failure occurred. Then parts of a crashed Comet were pulled from underwater proving once and for all that this was the root cause.
William H Low Co 1890s Rumsey 'Big City' Hose Wagon - Wilo Line Fire Truck, 1/24, FH130

Very rare. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which included a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment. The scale is given as 1/2" and the finished wagon is a large 7" long (14" with the front carriage bar). The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. This kit is based on the 1890 prototype of Rumsey's 'Big City' hose wagon. Features plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut large wooden parts, a sealed bag of smaller parts including a great many fully carved wood with brass chain and metal parts, a variety of metal stock as needed, sandpaper, complete instructions, a photo of the actual hose wagon and full size plans. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag with the non-sealed parts inventoried 100% complete including instructions/plans. The kits in this line include Amoskeag Steamer, Hose Reel, Hose Wagon, Chemical Engine and perhaps others.

Very nicely done kit in the Frog tradition. On the 28th of September, 1936, the Bristol 138/A climbed to an altitude of 49,967 feet to establish a new world altitude record. In 1937 it climbed to 53,967 feet where the windscreen cracked. The pilot was saved by the pressure suit he was wearing. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decal sheet and instructions.

Very large (1/4 scale) and highly detailed kit. By far the finest working visible aircraft engine kit ever made. Comes with electric motor for operation. Transparent housings permit viewing the correctly working pistons, valves, rocker arms, connecting rods, cam and gears in action with synchronized firing of the spark plugs using red electric bulbs. Propeller also changes pitch. Kit is molded in clear, red, black, blue metallic and gray plastic. The box has wear as shown, four solid corners and great color. Inside the box, all cardboard inserts, instructions, Renwal 'Guarantee' parts sheet, small catalog and booklet on 'The Aircraft Engine and How It Operates' are all in excellent as-new condition. The kit has not been started. The Renwal cement is present and mint, and all metal parts and bulbs are still in sealed in the original envelopes and the dark gray parts are still sealed in the original factory bag. Clear and Red parts are complete. NOTE: one blue rocker arm and one black push rod are missing. All other blue and black parts are present. The missing push rod can be made from stock round metal tubes, but the rocker arm will need to be resin cast from the others present.

ODK was the logo used by Odaka Sangyo. Odaka began plastic model kit production in early 1960, but all production stopped by 1965. The XP-50 is their fifth model and is originally from ex-KSN/Midori molds. NOTE: this kit has assembly. The wing and fuselage halves have been assembled as well as the prop shaft and shaft retainers. Quality of assembly is excellent. There has been no painting. The kit has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
