Renwal See-Thru SSBN 618 Thomas Jefferson Polaris Nuclear Submarine - With Clear Hull Half, 1/200, 653-298

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

Classic 1950s boxart at it's finest. Large 24 inch long kit with clear right half that is hinged to open. The Jefferson is the only Renwal submarine that has the clear hull half - all others have a gray hinged half. Heavily detailed interior and actual 'launching' Polaris missile from a spring loaded tube. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory internal bag sealed are still sealed, and the parts that Renwal never did internally seal - the large hull halves - are complete and not damaged. The clear side is in 'new' condition and I have wrapped it to prevent damage during shipping. Includes instructions, parts sheet and decals (still bagged sealed) in very good condition. Please note that shipping insurance is required for this model due to the clear hull half.

Revell Bell P-39 Airacobra 'S' Kit, 1/45, H222-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Mint

Sold

Early Revell 'S' kit from about 1955-56 in investment grade condition. The box is has brilliant color and gloss with no flaws. Oddly enough, there are not even any factory tape marks. This is the second issue of this kit which has Japanese kill markings on the nose of the aircraft in the artwork. Richard Kishady did the famous painting for this kit and originally included German kill markings on the nose of the P-39. Very shortly after this, Revell began to export kits to Europe. Shortly after World War II, many European countries banned the swastika. Revell changed the box art to Japanese kill markings, making the kit legal to sell in those countries. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts/decals and instructions present. Inside, the kit has never been started and is complete. All small parts are still sealed in the factory bag. The decals are flat and have very little yellowing. The instructions are mint. It would be difficult to find a better example of this early kit.

Aurora Convair B-36 Peacemaker Giant Bomber, 1/333, 492-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Second issue hardbox dated 1961 and with the Parents Magazine seal. Fantastic Jo Kotula artwork. Note the 'Famous Fighters' sunburst logo with the rectangular yellow background. In this second issue, Aurora took the previous box art, 'yellowed' out the logo, and placed the new logo in it. The next issue did not have the yellow rectangle. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Avro CF-100 Canuck All-Weather Fighter, 1/67, 137-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG+

Sold

Still factory sealed but the seal has drawn the box concave, primarily on the bottom. Fantastic Jo Kotula artwork. Box is dated 1960, but the oval logo without the 'Famous Fighters' and the 100 price extension would date this at about 1962 or slightly later.

Sterling Stinson Reliant SR-8 Gull Wing - 57 inch Wingspan Aircraft for RC, FS-33

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very large and high quality kit with 57 9/16 inch wingspan. Designed for RC and .40 to .56 size engines, but easily converted to electric power. Features top grade die cut and numbered balsa parts, step by step full size plans with instructions, scale decals, linkage hardware, vacuform cowl, wheel pants, strut fairings, formed aluminum landing struts and much more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits and they are still highly popular to this day.

Airfix Short Sunderland III, 1/72, 681

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Type 3 logo 1960s issue 'Porcupine'. The box is excellent with like-new color and gloss, four solid corners and light general wear as the only flaws. The kit has never been started and is still sealed in the internal factory bag. Complete with decals and instructions. The Sunderland's 21-year record with the RAF has made it a legend. Derived from the Empire Class Flying Boat Airliners, Sunderland IIIs had a top speed of 210 mph and an endurance of 12 hours. These qualities made the Sunderland a superb platform for North Sea and North Atlantic patrols, ASW and SAR. Crews usually loved the airplane; its large size afforded many airborne comforts that bomber or fighter crews could only dream of, such as bunk, a head and an area for food preparation.

Guillows Sky Streak Flying Wooden Airplane, NSS

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

From the late 1950s or early 1960s. Guillow's Sky Streak is a 12 inch wingspan rubber band powered stick model with colorful printed graphics. This seems to be an older stick model to me as the fuselage even has rounded edges instead of the normal 'rectangle' profile. The cardboard box and clear cello are excellent. The box has never been opened and the kit inside is mint.
