Very Rare. Nichimo was founded in 1951 and was a very famous Japanese kit manufacturer both at home and around the world. This model dates from the late 1950s or very early 1960s and is part of an extensive and sought-after 1/500 scale IJN Warship Series with expensive glossy box art from the 'Golden Age' of Japanese model kit illustrations. The model can built for motorized operation in water or static with waterline or full hull display. Well detailed and molded for that time, it features all hardware for motorizing, a steel and brass gear box for dual-propeller drive, switch, wire, universal joints, brass batter contacts, metal shafts, an original Mabuchi FA13 still in the original colorful box, one piece lower hull (molded in a realistic IJN 'Hull Red'), one piece upper hull (molded in gray), detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets and separately molded secondary battery and AA guns, catapults, floatplanes and more. Never started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the hardware bag is open and inventoried complete. Includes instructions, silver and gold foil-covered cardboard name plate and internal packing display 'band.' Please note that Nichimo did not supply decals with this issue. Please note that the box would display slightly better than the 'good+' rating, but is graded as such because there is a closed tear at the center of the right short side. It has been very neatly and correct repaired from the inside with light weight cardstock and book binding glue.

Early issue from the 1960s before Nichimo used part numbers. It is part of a unique and very successful 1/500 scale warship series with rare glossy box art from the 'Golden Age' of Japanese model kit illustrations. The model can be built motorized for operation in water or static full hull or waterline versions. It is very well detailed and molded for that time. Includes all hardware for motorizing with metal gear box for duel-propeller drive, brass batter contacts and switch, wire, threaded steel propeller shafts, universal joints and more, one piece lower hull (molded in an excellent simulation of IJN Hull Red), one piece upper hull (molded in gray), detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets and separately molded secondary battery and AA guns, catapults, some finer details in black plastic and more. Never started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags with the Nichimo paper headers. The hardware has been inventoried complete. Includes instructions and even the original silver and gold foil covered cardboard nameplate for display. Very rare first and only issue from 1969. This large and well detailed kit of this unique US Navy underwater habitat is highly detailed inside and out and includes a clear panel to show off the complete interior. The delicate clear part is in 'near mint' condition with only light scratches; it has been protected for shipping. Molded in bright yellow, tan (display base) and clear plastic. The kit has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes 'near mint' condition decals and instructions. However, NOTE: this kit has some 'professional' quality sub-assembly as noted. Step 1: floor assembly (4 beds, four side panels), side panel 53 to panel 53A; (2) beds to wall; Step 2: (4) outer frames and (4) hatches to yellow outer hull; Step 3: ballast tank halves and lid (3 pieces total); base built (3 pieces total). There is no other assembly.

Very rare first issue with a never used red, white and black metal tube of AMT Body Filler Putty, the original sandpaper and upholstery material. The kit features parts for three versions - stock, custom or race. Includes detailed stock 283 small block engine, 409 CID 'W' head engine, engine stand, full stock interior, custom interior with bucket seats, roll bar, custom wheel and gear shift, telephone with bracket and stuff alligator, optional stock hubcaps, mag wheels or custom bladed cap, standard tires or racing slicks, chassis with separately molded rear differential, shock absorbers, traction masters, front A arms and front lower suspension unit, detailed engine compartment with opening hood and stock or custom '57 Buick grill. Furthermore, the "Minor Stylizing" section of the instructions shows more included features such as whip antenna, spotlights, fender mirrors, three piece car show trophy, custom front and rear treatments, clear tube grill with Corvette type vertical grill, scoop aerials and roof scoops, horizontal tail fins, rear roll pan, nerf bars and bubble fender skirts. The more radical 'Top Chopping' and major 'Stylizing Options A and B' display how to chop the top and use the included clear lowered 'bubble top,' a wild front end extension with Lincoln-style custom headlights, extended hood and 'pancake hood' insert, wild deck body extension with custom bullets, rear grill and tail lights and more. The kit is molded in white, clear, red-tint clear, two trees of chrome parts and rubber tires. The kit has never been started. Inventoried and the stock version is complete but NOTE: the following custom parts are missing: chrome oil pan; custom manifold; custom air clearer; blower and manifold (4 pieces); magneto; blower front engine cover and blower fan belt assembly; race headers. This is a 2006 reissue of the original 1961 kit. The model is 20 inches long, full hull and well detailed. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Oriana was a very famous P&O Orient Liner. In December 1962, in fog off San Diego, Oriana collided with CV-33 USS Kearsarge, causing considerable damage to both vessels. A claims court found Oriana's captain had been steaming too fast for conditions. Afterwards, the CV was good-naturedly nicknamed "The Mighty Kay-runch."

Revell HMS Victory With Revell S Glue - Lord Nelson's Flagship - S Issue, H363-298

First issue 'S' kit dated 1958 that includes a factory-wrapped 4" long never used tube of colorful Revell 'S' Cement. The metal tube is in amazing 'near mint' condition and is not the usual small size issued with the early kits. As with most all Revell early ship kits, the model is finely molded and very well detailed. It measures about 15 inches long when assembled and features full detail on the top two decks, all cannons, complete deck fittings, prefabricated rat lines, vac sails, full standing and running rigging material, display stand and much more. The model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, flags, sails, thread and instructions present. The sails are in remarkable 'near mint' condition. Also includes the excellent booklet 'The Story of Ships' and an order form for 'The Dawning Space Age' book. Please NOTE that the box is only 'good-' due to clear packing tape at the two lower corners and a closed corner split at the upper left; there is also general wear and scuffs. The anchor stocks of this kit have molded-on rings; more often than not, the rings are either short shot or broken off; this kit is no exception.
Revell SMS Seeadler - German WWI Commerce Raider - (Sea Eagle), 1/232, H331-300

Very rare 1966 hardbox issue and ever rarer in this condition. The instructions include a history of the Seeadler, a map of the journey with locations & names of all the ships sunk by the raider and a message from the Captain of the Seeadler. This is a kit of a fantastic subject, the famous WWI sailing commerce raider of Count Felix Von Luckner. It is a very well detailed model for that time and has a full hull, display stand, detailed deck houses and deck fittings, davits and ship's boats, guns, fife rails, realistic deadeye assemblies, separately molded yards, tops and crosstrees, preformed rat lines, standing and running rigging material, rigging instructions, sails in amazing 'near mint' condition and much more. Molded in light gray, brown & black plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes the flag sheet and instructions. Although all parts are present, please NOTE that the propeller has one blade broken off and that blade is not present. The part number tags make the perfect start for a new blade since they are the right color, correct thickness and even have the right camber. The SMS Seeadler was a unique WWI raider in that it was not designed to elude the British blockade and break out to sea...it was designed to pass right through the blockade within full view of the British before attacking allied shipping around the world. No detail was overlooked in the Seeadler's preparation, right down to a Norwegian-speaking crew. The plan went perfectly - and the Seeadler passed inspection at the British Blockade. Her non-threatening appearance helped her in an active and colorful raiding career that nearly went around the world. I highly recommend reading any of several books that you can find about this ship. Von Luckner himself became quite a celebrity for his exciting exploits.

The box displays better than the 'very good++' grade but is rated as such because there is a very light stain just above 'Easy-To-Build' at the very top. it extends down about 1/2" onto the adjacent box side also.

Very hard-to-find, first issue from 1961. The hardbox features beautiful John Steel frameable box art titled 'Victory Off Cherbourg', which was the harbor in France very near the Kearsarge's famous duel with the Confederate ship Alabama. This very large 1/96 scale ship measures 34.5 inches long when assembled. Very highly detailed, well molded and features pre-formed ratlines, two position gun ports, guns that turn and elevate, movable propeller, special stand, name plate and 20 action figures. Inside the kit has never been started and is as it left the factory. All small parts are still sealed in the factory bags. Only the hull halves were not sealed and they are present. Complete with two types of rigging material, metal chains, rat lines, USS Kearsarge history booklet, rat line cutting pattern, instructions, rigging diagrams and flag sheet. This kit has the factory painted hull which is in 'near mint' condition.
