Very rare and from 1936. This is a Cleveland 'D' or dwarf kit. The term 'Dwarf' is just a bit deceptive, as it is Cleveland's designation for 1/24 scale. Most Cleveland kits were designated 'SF' or Scale Flying - 1/16 scale. The Dwarf kits were needed to fill a market demand for smaller flying models and to have a way of seller the larger airplanes as affordable (and reasonably sized) kits. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features quality balsa printwood, stringers & spars, fully carved nacelles, balsa blocks for the nose & more, fully formed main and tail wheels, different types of metal stock, wood stock & dowels, covering tissue, wood propellers (that you build up)and more. With Cleveland's famous high-quality plans. Even includes the original factory packing tissue. The model has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and paperwork present. NOTE: although the kit is complete, many of the printwood sheets were neatly broken in two and glued back together. It looks as if this was done in the Cleveland factory! I say that because the breaks are all aligned the same and the repairs are so well done. Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business - Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

The box is only 'good-' because of all the bug damage shown in the photo that is mainly centered around the edges.

The Do-X was a famous German Flying Boat of the 1930s. Dornier dreamed that this huge aircraft would become a trans-oceanic airliner. Passenger traveled in ocean-liner like luxury. A tour of South and North American was conducted, but orders never materialized due to excessive fuel consumption and a lack of power. The sole surviving aircraft was destroyed in the German Air Museum in Berlin during a WWII bombing raid. By an amazing set of circumstances, I actually have a piece of china specific to the Do-X that was removed when the aircraft was in Miami on the above-mentioned tour. This model features port-hole windows with clear inserts, clear cockpit windshield, ten detailed engines & propellers, full decals and a special blue-tinted clear 'water' display base. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The light-blue-tinted clear parts and decals are still in the factory sealed bag. All other parts have been inventoried complete. Includes instructions which have a painting guide.

Rare 1960s release in an 'excellent' box with fantastic artwork. This model is very nicely molded and detailed, like most Airfix ships. It is a full hull kit with detailed recessed boat deck, individual life boats and full decals. The model has not been started. All parts have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. NOTE: while the kit is complete with all parts, two parts have damage as noted: one propeller blade is missing from one propeller; one boom arm is missing from one cargo boom. The large 45,270 ton Canberra was a famous post-WWII P&O ship from the final glory days of ocean liner travel. She was very innovative and it is said that never were so many new concepts pressed into service on one ship. She could carry a total of 3,199 passenger and crew and turn 27.4 knots with her powerful turbo-electric drive. Pressed into service as a troop transport during the Falklands war and nicknamed the 'Great White Whale', she could have been a prime target of the Argentine Air Forces but escaped damage.

One and only issue from 1971. The factory fogged body is in 'near mint' condition. This is a detailed model that can be built one of three ways or customized. Includes many optional parts - 428 Cobra Jet and 429 Semi Hemi, mag and stock wheels, custom decals, wild blown engine and scoop, parachute and other custom parts. Features detailed complete engine, engine compartment, opening hood, full interior, rotating wheels, exhaust and underside detail. The body is molded in lime green and fogged a darker shade as per the box artwork. Other parts are molded in green, yellow, clear, red tinted clear, and chrome. With rubber tires. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is still packed as it came from the factory. The medium green and light green plastic parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The chrome, clear and tires were never factory sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions.
