O-Lin Ryan Navion / North American Aviation NA-143, 1/48, 507

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Very rare kit for the advanced collector. This is a very hard to fine original O-lin kit in the small box and advertisement for O-lin cement on the top. Production first began in 1949 or just before. O-Lin (Olin) was founded by Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen - hence the company name. Although a producer of flying models in the 1930s, O-lin produced some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the late 1940s. In 1950 the partnership may have ended, because all branding was changed to Lindberg and Paul Lindberg. Inside, the kit is as new and even includes early paper packing material. It is molded in high gloss dark red. I have seen many cases where Paul Lindberg used up the old O-Lin stock, combining different sets of instructions and decals resulting in odd combinations. While I admire his efficiency, it makes does make collecting these unique. This model has the O-Lin box, O-Lin parts and early 'Olin' decals (they say 'Olin' on the front and 'Lindberg Products' on the back!) and very early first logo Lindberg instructions. The kit has never been started and is inventoried complete with all parts, instructions and decals. The Navion was originally produced by North American Aviation as a high performance sport plane, but they sold them to the US Air Force as well. North American sold the rights to Ryan, who continued to successfully produce the aircraft.

Revell Dornier DO-X Flying Boat - (DoX) - (Ex-Otaki), 1/144, 4225

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

From quality Otaki molds. Famous German Flying Boat built in 1929. Very nicely detailed kit. Never started. Factory sealed bags with decals and instructions. Dornier dreamed that this huge aircraft would become a trans-oceanic airliner with passengers traveling in ocean liner-like luxury. A tour of South and North American was conducted, but orders never materialized due to excessive fuel consumption and a lack of power. Total load was 170 passengers and crew, and the 12 engines developed 7200 HP.
