Comet Boeing 707 Stratotanker (367-80 - Dash 80), 1/125, PL800-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora. Aurora reissued some but not all kit. There were two Boeing 707 models made. This is the two-piece box larger scale (1/125) 'Stratotanker' - not really a tanker model at all, but a nice kit of the famous Dash-80 Prototype Tanker/707, which lead to the world's first commercially-successful airliner. Well molded with fine recessed panel lines, landing gear and prototype decals. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Sterling Stearman PT-17 Kaydet Crop Duster for RC - Dusts Powder in Flight, A2-249

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

22 inch wingspan kit for RC, free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for automatically 'dusting crops' in flight. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
